Alpha 7 was sent to investigate the disturbance in sector 14. The distortion increases in size when B4 appears, making it impossible for him to communicate back to B5. On his way back to the station, he dies from old age, but he did manage scratch 'B4' into the buckle of his safety harness, alerting those on the station that all was not right in sector 14.

We learn this when Babylon Control is reporting to Ivanova on the strange emissions coming from sector 14. They say that it is 3 hours away in normal space.

They repeatedly mention that the emissions are tachyon emissions emanating from an unknown source in sector 14. These emissions are what cause the rift that Babylon 4 travels through.

Delenn takes her personal flyer out from Babylon 5. As she is leaving, Babylon Control says: "Are you sure you don't require a pilot, Ambassador?" Delenn replies: "Quite sure. Some things one must do alone." Lennier accompanied Delenn on the next visit to the Grey Council.

We learn this from Garibaldi's report to Sinclair and Ivanova about the cause of death of Alpha 7. Garibaldi: "Well, Commander, it's hard to explain. There's no damage to the body, no shock, no trauma. Everything points to death by natural causes." Ivanova: "So, why is that hard to explain?" Garibaldi: "Because in this case the natural cause was old age."

We are shown the buckle with the carving after Garibaldi has finished a thorough search of the starfury. The one thing that always puzzled me was that those were some pretty deep scratches he created in the buckle...how was he able to accomplish this?

Answer: 1200-1300

Since B4 has just gone on line, they have only a skeleton crew of 1200-1300 on board. We also know that most of the construction crew had already left the station, since Jinxo had departed when the construction was finished, right before the station disappeared, and actually saw B4 wrinkle out of existence ("Grail").

When the distress call comes in, Ivanova mentions that it contains valid Earth Force codes, although they are four years out of date. Since the year is 2258, four years earlier would be 2254.

When Delenn refuses to take Dukhat's place, the Grey Council member says: "In over a thousand years, no one has refused." Valen was the first leader of the Grey Council, and it was 1000 years ago that he formed the Grey Council. No one has ever refused the position except Delenn.

After explaining the Great War and the reason why he is stealing B4, they ask him where he comes from. He says that he comes from the year 4993, according to his world's calendar, but he doesn't know what year that is in Earth's calendar: "Much apologizing, Mathematics not Zathras skill."

Sinclair jumps forward to a time on Babylon 5 where they are being invaded (presumably by Shadows) and Garibaldi is holding them back so that the station can be evacuated. Garibaldi: "They burned through level 7 & 8. Can't stop 'em! They're everywhere!" Sinclair: "Garibaldi!" Garibaldi: "Look, I've rigged the fusion reactors, but there's not much time. Get going. I'll hold 'em as long as I can. Look! Come on.

This isn't a conversation. Jeff, it's okay. I finally understand. This is the moment I was born for! Now go. Go! Go! Go!" Sinclair: "Wait! Wait!" Garibaldi: "They're coming through. Take that! Take it! You want some? How 'bout you? How 'bout you? Take some! Take some! Take some!"

Garibaldi flashes back in time to before he leaves for Babylon 5. He and Lise are still an item, although this is where they break it off. It is in this conversation that we learn why they broke up. Lise: "I don't understand you, Michael. We've got a good life here; we've got history. You've met this Sinclair character twice and now you're off to Babylon 5, just like that. Doesn't what we have mean anything to you?"..."I think you've got something to prove, that somehow maybe taking this job, will mean the last five years didn't happen, but I'm part of those years, Michael, and I will not go to Babylon 5 with you.

It's got to be one or the other."

When Sinclair walks into the room where Zathras is being held, Zathras says: "Not The One." However, when The One rescues Zathras from underneath the support beam Zathras says, "Zathras knew you would not leave him. Zathras trusts The One." The One takes off the helmet from his spacesuit, and an older Sinclair is revealed. We learn in "War Without End" that Zathras was instructed by the older Sinclair not to mention The One to the younger Sinclair when he sees him on B4.

Delenn had announced to the Grey Council that she intended to fulfill prophecy. When the Grey Council member is saying goodbye to Delenn, he gives her the triluminary and says "These are curious times, Delenn. I feel a great change in my bones. A new beginning, an end, I can not say. We are surrounded by signs and portents. And I feel a darkness pressing on our backs. If ever you have needed me, I am here. Now, Valen go with you and light your way." He obviously understood what Delenn was doing and new that she would need the triluminary to fulfill the prophecy.

Answer: Ivanova

Ivanova is woken up by a call from C&C. When she goes to meet Sinclair and Garibaldi for breakfast, Garibaldi says the above line. Sinclair then proceeds to put her into a hypnosis type sleep. Garibaldi and Sinclair get rid of the food on their plates and then they wake her up. Garibaldi tricks her into believing that she is late for duty.

She runs off down the corridor, linking in to C&C. After a few seconds, we hear her yell: "Garibaldi, you're a dead man!"

Garibaldi says this after they receive the distress call from Babylon 4. He's having a hard time believing that the station really did reappear and it's not just some old hoax.

Answer: "Fasten, then zip."

This is a great conversation when Sinclair and Garibaldi are in the shuttle on the way to sector 14. Sinclair doesn't answer at first, he's a little skeptical and asks Garibaldi why he wants to know. Garibaldi: "Why do I want to know? Because I think of these things sometimes. I was getting dressed this morning, for a second, I couldn't remember which I did first. I started thinking about it: does everybody do it the same way? Is it a left-handed, right-handed thing?" Sinclair: "You think about this stuff a lot?" Garibaldi: "Yeah. Look, okay, I'm sorry I asked. You're always so serious all the time.

Not every conversation has to be the end of the world as we know it." Sinclair sighs and says: "Fasten, then zip. You?" Garialdi: "Fasten-zip." Sinclair then asks Garibaldi how much longer they have until they arrive. Garibaldi says: "One hour, fifty-seven minutes...Wanna talk socks?" Sinclair: "No!" Garibaldi: "It's just a question." Sinclair: "I'm not having this conversation."

Answer: prepared, candle, darkness

This is the saying we hear over and over again when Delenn is still a member of the Grey Council. Here is her initial conversation with the Grey Council before she refuses the position. Delenn: "Why have I been called?" Grey Council #1: "It has been ten cycles since Dukaht has left this world to take his place with Valen and the Nine who were, ten cycles since our people had a leader.

The time of mourning is complete. We must now choose another." Grey Council #2: "In your absence, we have discussed, debated, prayed for guidance. We must choose wisely and well." Delenn: "Why was I not told of these deliberations?" #1: "We thought it best in light of our decision." #2: "You have been chosen to lead us. Of all the Council, you have seen most, traveled most, know much of the other species, their world and governments.

There could be no other choice."

Here are some other classic Zathras quotes. "Not the one. Won't talk. Can't talk. Not the one. They told me, they did. Zathras listens, he does, yes. Once they get back to the station Sinclair tells Ivanova what happened. Sinclair explains Garibaldi reference to the Flying Dutchman and she asks if it ever made it home. Sinclair says "No."
