Character Profile: Ofelia Salazar Quiz

Ofelia was born in El Salvador but was brought to America by her parents when she was a baby. She is more fluent in English than in Spanish. Ofelia makes her first appearance in the pilot episode and is played by Mercedes Manson.

Answer: Griselda and Daniel

Ofelia's parents, Griselda and Daniel, run a barbershop in Los Angeles. The original casting call for Ofelia's character used the name Sandra Pena for the role.

Answer: Andrew Adams

Ofelia romantically manipulated Andrew, a member of the U.S. military that was guarding the neighborhood, to try to get medicines for her mother. Her father Daniel later tortured him for information to try to find out what the military was up to. Once Andrew was free, he turned a gun on Daniel. Ofelia tried to talk him out of shooting her father, and he angrily shot her instead. Ofelia survived her wound. Andrew Adams is played by Shawn Hatosy.

Answer: At Rosarito Beach Hotel

While Victor and Madison are in the hotel bar, Alicia and Ofelia begin to clear the Rosartio Beach Hotel rooms of walkers. While Alicia is taking a shower in one of the rooms, Ofelia abandons her and the others and drives off in the group's truck. Her reasoning for doing so is not entirely clear, and she later apologizes to Alicia for abandoning them when they are reunited.

Answer: William

William is shown in flashbacks as Ofelia is traveling alone after fleeing the group at the beach hotel. William is played by Ashley Zukerman. Ofelia seems to regret her rejection and makes the decision to go to looking for William to see if he is still alive.

Answer: Qaletaqa Walker

Jeremiah is the first to find her, and he gives her a sip of water, but then he leaves her to die because he's a racist who doesn't want to welcome "brown" people onto his ranch. The leader of the Black Hat Reservation, Qaletaqa Walker, later finds her badly sunburned and dehydrated, saves her, and brings her back to his reservation, where he sees that she is nursed back to health.

Answer: She poisons Broke Jaw Ranch's militia

There is a long-standing conflict between Walker's family and the Ottos that pre-dates the apocalypse. Walker thinks of Broke Jaw Ranch as his people's land and wants to take it over. There is an ongoing battle between the two groups. As part of a prisoner exchange, supposedly to work out a peace truce, Alicia is left with the Black Hat Reservation and Ofelia is brought to Broke Jaw Ranch.

But while there, Ofelia poisons the coffee with the anthrax Walker has given her. She didn't know what the poison was and expected it to make people sick rather than kill them, but many die and turn and eat others.

This weakens the defenses of the ranch and makes them unfit to defeat the Black Hat camp, and so the ranch camp eventually relents and agrees to allow the Indians to move in and share the ranch with them.

Answer: She succumbs to infection after being bitten by a walker.

When Broke Jaw Ranch is overrun with walkers, the members of the camp sequester themselves in a bunker. Unfortunately, the air vents become blocked. Ofelia and Crazy Dog go to clear them, and in the process, Ofelia is bitten by a walker, though she tells no one.

The truth is later revealed when she nearly falls off the back of a truck from weakness as the survivors move on from the ranch.

Madison tries to keep Ofelia alive for as long as possible so she can speak to her father one last time, but Ofelia dies just before Daniel sees her, and he is left to greet her corpse. He does the awful work of putting her down with a bullet to the head before she can reanimate.

Ofelia dies in season 3, episode 14. She outlives her mother (who died in season 1), Travis (who died in season 3, episode 2), and Chris, who died in season 2, episode 14. The only one of these characters she does not outlive is Nick Clark, who went on to die in season 4, episode 3
