Victor makes his first appearance in season 1, episode 5, "Cobalt." He is one of the longest-lived characters on the show and is played by actor Colman Domingo.

Nick Clark encounters Victor Strand when he is placed in a cage-like cell by the U.S. military. Strand is first show verbally manipulating a fellow cellmate until he causes a scene, which forces the soldiers to remove him from the cage. It is made clear Strand has been bribing the officers, and he offers one a diamond cuff link to allow Nick to stay in the cage because Strand believes he will need Nick's skills to survive.

Answer: Victor's boyfriend Thomas Abigail

Victor's goal is to get back to his boyfriend Thomas Abigail at his mansion in Mexico, which is secure from the dead, has power and running water, and is stocked with supplies. When he arrives, however, his boyfriend is dying. He eventually shoots Abigail to prevent him from turning, but does not shoot himself as he initially said he would do.

Victor tells Nick this in season 1, episode 6, "The Good Man." Victor uses Nick as his courier to connect with an associate who will smuggle them into Mexico so he can get to Thomas Abigail's vineyard.

After Victor's investments in New Orleans were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina, he got by through con jobs and grifting, and its through a con that he meets and falls in love with Thomas Abigail. He describes himself as "a backroom dealer, a grifter, a shark. Hell I've cheated at chess when a back was turned."

Answer: Madison

Madison and Strand have a complicated relationship, one of tenuous respect. They later bond over martinis at the Rosarito Beach Hotel before being set upon by zombies. When Madison is forced from the hotel by other occupants, however, Strand remains there.

After being parted for a while, they run into each other again. Though Victor is always working his own schemes to benefit himself, Madison rescues him a second time. They eventually become close friends.

Answer: Woodbury

Woodbury is a fictional town in the companion series "The Walking Dead." After fleeing the Abigail Family Vineyard, Victor settles at Rosarito Beach Hotel. He is eventually exiled from there, however, by other inhabitants, and he finds his way to the Gonzales Dam, where he re-encounters Daniel.

He betrays the dam to the Proctors, however, promising to help them get inside and take it over. Later, he ends up helping to build the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium camp with Madison, Nick, and Alicia. When that is destroyed, and he runs into new people, including Morgan, his new team of friends eventually decides to settle at Wittington's Denim Company and attempt to build it into a refuge.

He initially steps up to become a medic because a crowd is clamoring for a doctor, but he has picked up some skills along the way and does treat people. Eventually, however, he is exiled from the hotel. There is a real-life hotel in Baja with the same name, and it was used as the set for this location.

Answer: Alicia and Charlie rescue them in the SWAT van

Although John attempts to construct two rafts, both attempted crossings fail. In addition to walkers in the flooded area, the pair has to contended with a massive gator. Finally, however, they are rescued by Alicia and Charlie, who stumble upon them by chance when they are headed to Galveston and simply drive through the flooded area in the SWAT van and drive them out.

Answer: He is the only major season 1 character who is still alive in season 5

Victor's ability to speak Spanish is revealed in season 3, episode 3, "Teotwawki." All of the main characters in season 1 are a part of some family or another (the Clarks, the Salazars, and the Manawas), but Victor alone is not related by blood to even one other character.

Although other LBGT characters appear on the show, Victor is the first. He is not, however, the only major season 1 character to make it to season 5 - Alicia and Daniel are also still alive.
