Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song does Del ask Enrico to sing in the pub?

Answer: Old Shep

Del is feeling down because he has been dumped. To make matters worse, his girlfriend owned a chain of laundrettes she had inherited from her father, and Del had been hoping to sell her some washing powder. Enrico, a faux-Spanish singer in the pub, is not happy about singing "Old Shep" but is persuaded to do so by Del.

The pub clears out as the customers find the song too depressing, but one lady, Heather, does stay. She was supposed to be meeting a friend but has been stood up.
2. Heather has a daughter.

Answer: False

Heather actually has a three year old son, Darren. Del becomes quite attached to him.
3. What is the name of Heather's neighbour?

Answer: Brian

Heather takes Del back to her flat after they First meet. Brian comes out of one of the bedrooms and Del instantly gets defensive, believing him to be Heather's partner. It turns out he is her downstairs neighbour and has been babysitting while she went out.
4. Where did Heather's husband say he was going when he left?

Answer: Job centre

Vic left eighteen months earlier, saying he was going to the job centre to sign on.

Del: "The Way things are going he might still be queueing."

This episode originally aired in the UK in 1982 when unemployment was at a high level.
5. Where are Del and Heather thrown out of?

Answer: Planetarium

During video montage, we see Del on a child's ride with Darren, before Del, Heather and Darren visit the zoo. We then see Del and Heather sitting under some stars. Just as they are about to kiss, a hand appears to pull them apart. We then see them being ejected from the Planetarium.
6. What item of playground equipment was Del told off for using?

Answer: Slide

Del is having a kickabout with Darren, while Rodney is cleaning the van and talking to Granddad about Del's new found youth. The scenes underlines how Del has really taken to Darren. Granddad tells Rodney how Del spends most of his time at the park, and that he even saw the caretaker tell him off for coming down the slide backwards.

Rodney: "That's a bit dangerous, innit? I mean, all his conkers and marbles could've fallen out of his pockets."
7. Complete the quote: "Up until I was four I thought you was..."

Answer: Twins

Del is standing in front of the mirror brushing his hair and getting ready to go out. Rodney is lying on the sofa, flicking through a sofa, and teasing him. Del is trying to ignore him.

Rodney: "You must have spent a third of your life standing in front of mirrors. My earliest childhood recollection is of you standing in front of a mirror. Up until I was four I thought you was twins."
8. Del asks Granddad and Rodney to move out of the flat.

Answer: False

Del actually tells Del and Rodney that he has applied for a council house so that he can live with Heather and Darren. He initially asks Granddad and Rodney if they like Heather and Darren, and they get the idea that Del is about to ask Heather to move in, until he drops his bombshell.

While Rodney accepts that Del moving out is probably inevitable eventually, Granddad worries about who will pay the bills.
9. What kind of restaurant does Del take Heather to?

Answer: Indian

Del takes Heather out for a curry, where he plans to propose to her.
10. Del and Heather get engaged.

Answer: False

Del has bought Heather a ring and gives it to her at the restaurant. Heather becomes upset and tells Del that she has heard from her husband, Vic. Vic has written to Heather asking her to try again, and she decides to accept his offer, as she still loves him and he is Darren's father.

Heather (upset, blows her nose): "It's Vic."
Del: "Why, is your nose blocked up?"

The episode ends with Del passing a Salvation Army choir singing Christmas carols. He pays the to sing "Old Shep".
