Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Del claim is Prince William's nickname?

Answer: Spud

Del is trying to sell puppy dog toys from his suitcase and claims that Prince William has one. As part of his spiel, he claims Prince Charles called him to say that he had forgotten "Spud's" birthday and needed a present.

This episode first aired in the UK in November 1983, while Prince William was born in June 1982.
2. Del get caught by a policeman after Rodney fails to keep a proper look out.

Answer: False

Although a policeman chases Del due to Rodney's failure to spot him, Del manages to get away. When Del and Rodney return to the flat, Del is angry with Rodney and asks why Rodney didn't warn him.

Rodney: "Because I didn't see him."
Del: "You didn't see him? What do you want me to get you, radar or something?"
Granddad: "You've got to give him the benefit of the doubt, Del Boy."
Rodney: "Yes, thank you granddad, at least somebody understands."
Granddad: "I mean, they are difficult to spot, what with their size 18 boots and their pointed heads."
3. How old is Rodney in this episode?

Answer: 24

Rodney has been thinking about his life for the past couple of weeks.

Rodney: "I am 24 years old. I have 2 GCEs, 13 years of schooling and 3 terms at an adult education centre behind me, right? And with all that, what have I become? I'm a lookout."
Del: "No, Rodney, you're wrong. You're not just a lookout. YOU'RE A BAD LOOKOUT!"
4. Rodney decides to go it alone without Del. Who does he go into partnership with instead?

Answer: Mickey

Although he had been mentioned in previous episodes, this was the first time we got to see Mickey Pearce, played by Patrick Murray.

Granddad: "You wanna watch that young Pearcey, he's a bit too fly for my liking. He'd rob his own grandmother, he would."
Rodney: "Oh, don't be stupid, granddad. That was never proved."
5. Del gives Rodney £1000 for his half of the partnership.

Answer: False

A bit of a trick question this one, as we aren't actually told how much Rodney receives, although if you're that way inclined you could probably count it.

We see Del take a wad of notes out of his jacket pocket and hand Rodney some.

Rodney: "Is this all I got? Oh, bloody hell Del, all them years of work and you give me this?"
Del: "Well, business has been shaky, profits are down."
Rodney: "Hold on a minute, just now you said we was doing well."
Del: "Yeah, well we are doing, relatively speaking. I mean, we are doing well compared to an Iranian gin salesman."
6. Rodney and Mickey buy some crystal goblets at the auction.

Answer: False

Rodney and Mickey want to buy the crystal goblets until Del advises them to avoid one of the other lots, which is listed as "assorted agricultural machinery." Rodney thinks Del is trying to trick him, so they decide to bid for this instead. It turns out to be lawnmower engines.

Del: "They're not ordinary lawnmower engines."
Rodney: "No?"
Del: "They're broken lawnmower engines."

It then transpires that Del was, in fact, selling the engines, having bought them unawares from Alfie Flowers.

Rodney: "Del, we'll probably have problems taking these back to the depot... We was wondering whether you could take a few in the back of your van?"
Del: "Back of my van? You must be joking, I've only just cleared them out of the van."
7. Which newspaper does Rodney get delivered?

Answer: The Sun

Del has cancelled the delivery because Rodney has not been paying the bill.
8. Complete the quote: Rodney: "We're going into the self-catering holiday trade." Del: "On £200?" Rodney: "Well, we're starting in a small way." Granddad: "What you got, a ______________?"

Answer: Wendy House

This line received what was regarded as the biggest laugh of the series, prompting the cast and crew to rate all future jokes based on the a scale of "wendy-ness".

Rodney is trying to save face after he admits Mickey Pearce is holding the money from their partnership, but learns that Mickey is in fact on holiday in Spain.
9. Who does Del meet in the restaurant?

Answer: Towser

Del goes out to an Indian restaurant, where he meets Towser and convinces him to buy the lawnmower engines from Rodney. He gives Towser £200 and asks him to offer this to Rodney, saying that he has a contact at the GLC parks department, but to in fact take them back to Alfie Flowers. Del wants Rodney to think that he has been successful, since the engines were only worth a score, scrap value. Del believes he will get his money back, as Rodney will want to go back into partnership with him.
10. How much does Rodney receive for the lawnmower engines?

Answer: £165

Del is at first surprised, as he had given Towser £200 to give to Rodney. Rodney claims that it is still a good profit, as the engines were only worth a score, scrap value, prompting Del to think Rodney has learned something during his solo stint.

When Del asks Rodney to pool their money, Rodney claims he doesn't have it, as he invested it in more lawnmower engines, believing Towser's contact at the GLS parks department to be legitimate. As luck would have it, Alfie Flowers had just had a new load delivered that morning.
