Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What item did Rodney purchase at the auction?

Answer: Suntan lotion

It's winter time and Rodney was left alone at the auction, where he invested the Trotters' funds on suntan lotion, much to the annoyance of Del.
2. How much did Rodney spend at the auction?

Answer: £500

According to Rodney, it was an investment.

Del: "That £500 that you squandered on this stuff was the last of the company's capital."
Rodney: "Oh, and how was I supposed to know that?"
Del: "How were you supposed to know that? You're the firm's accountant, you wally!"
3. Uncle Albert suggests Rodney becoming a toy boy for a rich lady.

Answer: True

When he brings up the subject, Rodney initially thinks Albert is talking about himself picking up a younger model. When Albert clarifies that he was, in fact, referring to Rodney, he dismisses the idea.

Del: "Listen, uncle, you came to stay for a couple of nights, about four weeks ago, so you don't know us very well. Let me explain something to you. You can't expect Rodney to do something like that. Even I wouldn't expect Rodney to do something like that."
Albert: "I suppose it was too much to ask. Sorry, Del."
Del: "That's alright. I mean, Rodney can't even give it away, let alone flog it."
4. What does Rodney suggest would be more useful than the Trotters' three-wheeled van?

Answer: Bus pass

Del parks up outside The Nag's Head with smoke coming from the bonnet/hood. When he and Rodney go to the back door to let out Uncle Albert, Rodney asks Del why they don't sell the van and get something more useful, like a bus pass.
5. What item has Del sold Mike?

Answer: Deep fat fryer

All items have been handled or sold by Del throughout the course of the series, but on this occasion it was a deep fat fryer Mike had bought from Del.

This is brought up when Uncle Albert stops beside the cellar door to ask Mike how he's getting on with said purchase, only to be hastily led away by Del and Rodney.
6. Rodney: "We have to find a way of making money out of nothing." Del: "Yeah?" Rodney: " Well I don't know how we do it but that's the answer " Del: "And you had to use ink to come to that conclusion. A ______ fan could have worked that one out."

Answer: Millwall

Millwall is not far from Peckham in London, where "Only Fools" is set. Over the course of the series the characters take several jibes at Millwall FC and their supporters.

In this scene, Rodney, Del and Albert are in the Nag's Head trying to work out how to overcome their current financial difficulties.
7. What is the name of the Trotters' solicitor?

Answer: Solly Attwell

Once Del realises that there could be money to be made from Albert's fall down the cellar, he tells Rodney to look out Solly's number in the Yellow Pages.

Rodney: "Solly Attwell's our solicitor? Bloody hell, he's more bent than the villains."
Del: "He's just the sort of man we need in a case like this - a specialist."
8. Who is the first person we see giving evidence in the court?

Answer: Rodney

Although Mike is present in court, we do not see him giving evidence. Ironically, Mike is wearing a neck brace as he has actually injured himself following Albert's "fall".
9. How many previous compensation claims had Uncle Albert made?

Answer: 15

We learn that in 1944 Albert carried out some basic parachute training with the Marines, learning how to fall. He used that skill in several previous lawsuits. Five such incidents are mentioned in the court. Outside court, Rodney states that there were 15 previous claims.
10. The Trotters received a payout from the brewery.

Answer: False

Initially, we are told the brewery were willing to offer £2000 for an out of court settlement, however Del wanted more and pushed for a court hearing. Due to Albert's history of making such claims, the Trotters ended up with nothing.
