Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Marge at the beginning of the episode, what is her extra ingredient for good pork chops?

Answer: Care

The episode begins with Marge cooking dinner, pork chops, in the kitchen while Homer comes in to compliment her on her cooking. As she adds a number of otherwise obscure spices, Homer vows to build her a spice rack as he has a number of tools he never uses in the garage.
In the other room, the kids watch an episode of 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show' on 'Krusty the Clown' entitled 'Hold that Feline' where Itchy lights a football bomb and hits Scratchy on the head with it.
2. Who hits Homer on the head in the garage?

Answer: Maggie

While Homer puts the finishing touches on what he thinks is the perfect spice rack, Maggie, atop a fairly high shelf, hits Homer on the top of the head with a mallet, sending him tumbling to the ground. In a "Psycho-esque" moment, a can of red paint spills onto the floor and down a drain as the camera recedes from his motionless body. Homer, bandaged up, spends his recovery on the couch as Marge places Maggie in front of the TV during another episode of 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show'.

This time, Maggie gets the idea to attack her father with a pencil. Marge catches her in the act and realizes that TV is leaving the impression on the infant. Marge forbids the kids to watch cartoons.
3. When he's forbidden from watching 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show', Bart goes to whose house to watch instead?

Answer: Milhouse

At school, even Nelson feels sorry for Bart's predicament. Milhouse suggests that Bart stay at his house to watch cartoons instead and he decides to take him up on the offer. Similarly, Lisa is at Janie's house watching the show.
Meanwhile, Homer calls into work and lets his boss know that he can't come in "because his baby beat him up." His supervisor claims that this is his worst excuse yet.
Marge decides to watch a few episodes of 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show' to track the amount of violence depicted and she is so shocked that she decides to write a letter tot he animation studios.
4. What organization does Marge create to fight the animation studio at which 'The Itchy and Scratchy Show' is made?

Answer: SNUH

Roger Meyers Jr., the head of Itchy & Scratchy International, receives Marge's letter and decides to reply stating that "one screwball can't make a change." Furious, Marge decides to show them what "one screwball" can do.
She begins by picketing in front of their offices with the family (including Bart and Lisa, who are less-than-thrilled with the idea of picketing their favourite cartoon).
When Maude Flanders stops by she sees the acronym 'SNUH' on one of Marge's signs. This, apparently, stands for 'Springfieldians for Non-Violence, Understanding, and Helping'.
Lisa and Bart make up excuses to leave to visit their friends in time for the show, and Marge thinks nothing of it.
5. Which of these is not one of the suggestions given to Roger Meyers Jr. as to how to get rid of Marge?

Answer: Throw her off a cliff

Marge's cause gains a number of supporters and the family finds that her picketing is actually hurting their family dinners- Marge is no longer able to make healthy, delicious meals because she's always out at protest rallies and the kids are still unable to watch any cartoons. Even Homer is feeling the brunt of Marge's actions.
The protest rallies end up at Krusty's show to go against the cartoon and they destroy his live filming. In a board meeting, Roger Meyers Jr. decides that they need to do something about that screwball, Marge, and his advisers are no help.
6. When the 'Itchy & Scratchy Show' animators add Marge into the show, what type of animal do they make her?

Answer: Squirrel

While Marge protests outside the studio, one of the animators inside decides that it would be a funny idea to animate Marge and add her into the show for a laugh and to dig at her. When researching for her protests, Marge views the episode at home and sees her blue-haired squirrel get its head knocked off by a baseball bat. Homer is highly amused, but Marge is even angrier. That's when Marge receives a call from the local TV studio; they want her on a talk show discussion panel headed by Kent Brockman.
7. On what show does Marge speak on a discussion panel?

Answer: Smartline

The family watches Marge's 'Smartline' appearance on TV to find more of the same adamant protesting. Kent Brockman doesn't really agree with her point and he also introduces Roger Meyers, Krusty, and Dr. Marvin Monroe (who joins live from Vienna, Austria). Meyers argues that violence has been around longer than cartoons while Dr. Monroe says that the TV show shouldn't really be objected against. Krusty really doesn't give a viewpoint.

Instead he jokes around on camera. In the remaining seconds of the show, Marge tells viewers to write in to Itchy & Scratchy International to say how they feel about the show. Roger Meyers Jr. is shocked at the trucks delivering letters to the factory.

As he says, "the screwballs have spoken."
8. When Bart and Lisa are finally able to watch the 'Itchy & Scratchy Show' again, what does the episode depict the cat and mouse doing?

Answer: Drinking lemonade

Marge finally has time to make the family her delicious pork chops now that the protesting has come to a halt (thanks to the thousands of letters delivered to the studios). Roger Meyers Jr. calls Marge for help while she's cooking: they can't finish their cartoon because violence is morally wrong (thanks to her) and they need an appropriate ending to occur after Itchy steals Scratchy's pie.

She suggests that they both share the pie. Marge allows the kids to watch Krusty the Clown, something that they're both quite excited for.

When the show comes on, it turns out to be horrible, boring, and a bit too cute as the two enemies sit on a porch drinking lemonade and complimenting each others' company. Marge likes the episode and it appears that Maggie takes the good values from it. Bart and Lisa decide not to watch the rest of the show.
9. What work of art is planned to arrive in Springfield?

Answer: Michelangelo's David

Lisa and Bart aren't the only kids to decide to stop watching TV. After the dreaded 'Porch Pals' episode of the show (and successive bad episodes), the kids of Springfield decide to rub their eyes and play outside in what appears to be an idyllic world of good-natured fun. Krusty's audience empties out- the show has no viewers and the studio is devoid of kids.
At home, the kids talk about their fun days over dinner and soon after head back outside to play. The kids are even polite asking to be excused from the table and moving their dishes to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, in Florence, Italy, Michelangelo's David is packed up and shipped to the U.S. for a coast-to-coast tour that includes Springfield in its itinerary. The protests rally begin once more and show up at Marge's doorstep.
10. Does 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show' ever revert back to its original, violent ways?

Answer: Yes

Marge is soon briefed on the situation. Since Michelangelo's David exhibits male genitalia, it should not be brought to Springfield. Marge disagrees with this; she likes the statue as it's a work of art. Marge appears on 'Smartline' again to argue for bringing Michelangelo's David to the city and both Kent Brockman and Dr. Marvin Monroe (now live from Athens, Greece) call her out on her hypocrisy.

She admits that while one person can make a change, perhaps they should not always do so. Soon, the kids return to their homes and the idyllic world outside is left behind in favour of TV. 'The Itchy & Scratchy Show' returns to full, violent form while Marge goes to visit the Statue of David with Homer.

She's disappointed that the kids are at home watching violence on TV, but Homer assures her that the schools are forcing the kids to see it on field trips.

She's glad for that at least.
