Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who tips Homer off about the possibility of free cable?

Answer: Ned Flanders

The episode begins with a glimpse into 1220 B.C. when Moses descends from Mt. Sinai with the Ten Commandments and tells his people how they should be living. This, of course, puts several people out of their jobs including a past version of Homer who spends his days thieving.
In the present day, Homer rests in the hammock out back and wakes up to find Flanders arguing with the cable guy. Homer is surprised by Flanders' attitude and discovers that the cable guy tried to offer him illegal, free cable for only $50. Homer decides to chase the man down; within the day he's stealing cable.
2. What seems to be the slogan for the womens' cable network?

Answer: "Hear Me Roar"

Homer is initially leery about stealing cable, but his cable guy hands him a pamphlet and tells him that it'll be okay-- cable companies are faceless and heartless, so it makes it alright. Soon, Homer is enjoying all that his television now has to offer including infomercials, classic stand-up comedy, and more.

When the family comes home, he announces the new acquisition and the kids are thrilled. Marge is cautious, as usual, but changes her mind when Homer switches to the womens' network and she gets sidetracked by a show about cutting your first aid bill in half by making your own band-aids.
3. Which of these movies do the Simpsons not watch on their illegal cable?

Answer: The Shining

The family continues to enjoy their newfound freebies; Homer watches Mexican wrestling, everyone watches "Jaws", "Die Hard", and "Wall Street", and in the middle of the night Homer switches between a government station and the World Series of Cockfighting (in New Orleans).

When Sunday morning arrives, it's clear that Homer hasn't left the couch in ages; his imprint is clearly defined in the sofa. Nevertheless he decides to get up and tag along.
4. What do Bart and Lisa learn about in Sunday School?

Answer: Hell

At church, Reverend Lovejoy tries to send across a message about today's modern worshiper and his everyday conveniences, but it doesn't get through to Homer. In Sunday School, the kids learn about Hell, a concept Bart is very interested in hearing about.

The teacher says that if you ever saw Hell, you would be so frightened you would die. The topic hits home with Lisa though since she's worried about the consequences, especially when the teacher says that the only way to avoid Hell is by following the ten commandments, one of which is 'Thou Shalt Not Steal'.
5. Under pressure from Lisa, Marge offers to pay for which of these at the grocery store?

Answer: Two grapes

On the way home from church, Marge tries to remind the kids that Hell is not a great thing, but when everyone heads into the house, they park themselves in front of the TV to watch a Troy McClure infomercial about a candy that cleans and straightens teeth (it's just "good science!") created by Dr. Nick Riviera.

At this point, Lisa daydreams that she and her family are being taken into the depths of Hell-- the cost of free cable? Their souls! At the grocery store, Lisa catches Marge eating two grapes and reminds her of the eighth commandment.

At the check-out counter, Marge insists upon paying for the grapes, much to Lisa's delight and the cashier's ire. He calls for a price check.
6. Carl offers Homer and the others to watch the big fight on the TV at his place.

Answer: False

At home, Lisa shows her disappointment and asks her father why the world is a cesspool of corruption. He asks her if she paid for her own clothes and she criticizes his argument. The conversation is put on hold, however, when an advertisement for 'The Bout to Knock the Other Guy Out!' appears on the TV screen. Homer decides to kiss the precious TV cable. At work, the guys think about listening to the fight on the radio or watching the stills on the news but Homer offers to host the event at his place. Mr. Burns watches the guys discussing this (in the showers, oddly) and says that he really wants to watch the fight-- he'd be willing to go to an employee's house to see it!
7. What did Moe buy for the bar instead of cable TV?

Answer: A mechanical bull

At the bar, the guys are glad to get an invitation from Homer to watch the fight at the Simpson household. When Barney asks Moe why he never got cable for the bar, they discover it was a toss-up between that and a mechanical bull; Moe bought the never-used bull. Homer later invites Apu to the fight as well. At the church, Lisa asks Reverend Lovejoy what she should do; she asks if it's stealing if someone takes bread to feed their family (and he says only if they put something on that bread, like jelly).

When Lisa reveals the cable theft, she asks if she should have her father arrested, but Reverend Lovejoy says to "honor thy father and thy mother" and he recommends she set an example by not watching the offending technology.
8. Homer catches Bart watching which of the following on the new cable?

Answer: Adult programming

Back at home, Bart watches the late night adult programming on the Top Hat network. When Homer walks in on him, he has Bart promise him he'll never watch it again. Lisa also comes in to announce that she will no longer be watching stolen programming on account of the fact that she wants to go to Heaven. That night, Homer asks why they can't have a kid who's a happy medium between Bart and Lisa. Marge suggests that Homer unhook the cable as it's become an evil presence in their house.

He puts his foot down. The next day, Homer is visited by the cable guy.

This event is slightly unnerving since the guy walks right into the house. Homer decides to bar the windows and buy new door locks for the house.
9. Which of these did Homer apparently steal from Moe's bar?

Answer: Beer mugs

Bart, meanwhile, dons a top hat and starts offering admission into the living room for the local kids to watch the adult entertainment network. Homer runs in as the kids flee the scene. Homer sends the boy to his room and Bart comments that he wishes he were an adult so he could break the rules. The night of the fight finally comes and guests begin to show up.

While the guys watch the TV, Lisa purposely blocks it to say that she will not be watching as a form of non-violent protest. When Moe arrives, Homer is forced to hide the beer mugs he'd stolen from the bar in the past. Moe brings a gift though-- it's another mug. That's when Mr. Burns arrives. Homer has Bart hide the stuff he stole from the power plant and all the while, Lisa watches her father accusingly.
10. What is the result of Lisa's protest?

Answer: Homer removes the cable entirely

Homer finally lets Mr. Burns and Smithers into the house to watch the game and soon after, police officers Eddie and Lou arrive to ask Homer if he has illegal cable. Homer is initially worried, but discovers that they too want to watch the fight. Soon, as tension mounts, Homer realizes he can't do it anymore; he doesn't want to risk prison.

He chooses to bring Bart outside and join Lisa's protest. His decisions: to cut the cable after the fight and to not be fond of the rest of the family. When everyone leaves, Bart tries to convince his dad not to do it, but Homer feels he has no choice.

He cuts some cables (which turn out to cut the power to the houses on the street) before ultimately cutting the cable for the show.
