Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On what show were plane crash survivors stranded on a mysterious island for six seasons?

Answer: LOST

Admittedly, not all of them were stranded the entire time, but the cast of "LOST" spent a lot of time fending for themselves before supernatural occurrences started getting in the way in the six seasons of the show which aired on ABC to great ratings.

At the start of this series, a plane crash stranded dozens of people traveling from Sydney to Los Angeles and by the end, they were embroiled in a battle of good vs. evil. Series creator J.J. Abrams later went on to film the modern "Star Trek" movies and create the TV show "Fringe".
2. No one told six New Yorkers that life was gonna be this way. What ten-season-long show starred a group of six living in New York City?

Answer: Friends

Airing between 1994 and 2004, "Friends" became one of the most popular sitcoms of all-time, acting as a touchstone TV show at the turn of the century and making NBC a network to reckon with. Cast members became household names and, eventually, the leading six actors went on to earn one million dollars per episode in the ninth and tenth seasons.

The show, set primarily in New York City, followed the occasionally-zany goings on in the lives of the six friends as they lived their lives, shared relationships, and strived to get ahead.
3. Four young millennials in New York City were the main characters of what Lena Dunham-led HBO show?

Answer: Girls

Airing over six years to often polarizing response from viewers, "Girls" was considered to be a gritty, realistic representation of millennial women in their twenties who, despite being friends for whatever reason, inevitably followed the course of life, even if that meant that they weren't ideal for each other.

In some cases, they were downright toxic. Lena Dunham, the show's creator, played Hannah. Along with her friends Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna, they simply try to get by living in New York.
4. A comedian lives his life with an ex-girlfriend, a best friend, and his neighbour in what 1990s classic sitcom?

Answer: Seinfeld

Starring Jerry Seinfeld, "Seinfeld" epitomized 1990s sitcoms, becoming one of the most critically-lauded shows of the decade despite, subjectively, being about next to nothing. Each episode would be stand-alone, focusing on banal details, usually revolving around dating quirks, odd events, get-rich-quick schemes, or otherwise, but things would spiral out of control, usually leaving someone in contact with the core group of characters struggling.

The show starred Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards.
5. A futuristic amusement park set in the wild west is the main setting for what HBO TV show featuring Anthony Hopkins?

Answer: Westworld

A sci-fi treat, "Westworld" released in 2016 to critical acclaim, exploring the futuristic world of Michael Crichton's original movie with an original story by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The show, starring an ensemble cast including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, and Evan Rachel Wood, followed the visitors to this odd park, the people running it from behind the scenes, and the 'hosts', the androids living in the park, as mysteries began to unravel.
6. The main character of this Showtime TV show was a serial killer working for a forensic unit. What was the show's name?

Answer: Dexter

The titular "Dexter" was played by Michael C. Hall for eight years and nearly one hundred episodes before the show was wrapped up in late 2013 (on what was considered by many as a nadir in programming). The show, narrated by Dexter, followed his back and forth between being a sociopathic serial killer and being an upstanding crime-solver known for his immaculate work in blood-spatter analysis in Miami.

The show inevitably ended up following a much different trajectory from Jeff Lindsay's original novels, beginning with "Darkly Dreaming Dexter".
7. A group of misfits, including Chevy Chase, attend college in what constantly-challenged NBC comedy?

Answer: Community

Created by Dan Harmon, "Community" faced an uphill battle to get episodes made due to faltering ratings on NBC's comedy blocks, behind-the-scenes issues and firings for both Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon, the departure of rising star Donald Glover, an inevitable cancellation, and a revival on Yahoo Screen. Nonetheless, the show usually followed a group of students at Greendale Community College as they navigated the classes and their lives, often in zany, meta scenarios.

Despite horrible ratings, the show was a critical hit and formed a quick cult following that pushed for six seasons and a movie.
8. High school a cappella was the main feature of what musical FOX TV show featuring Jane Lynch?

Answer: Glee

Originally a peppy show about a high school glee club striving to get to Nationals, the six seasons of "Glee" morphed into something more, becoming a majorly popular show in its first and second season and then seeing a drop in popularity over later years.

The flash-in-a-pan series ended up spawning a spin-off show ("The Glee Project") and countless albums that hit the Billboard charts, and commenced the mainstream careers of several of its stars. Showrunner Ryan Murphy would go on to create "American Horror Story", "American Crime Story", "Feud", and "Scream Queens".
9. "The tribe has spoken!" In what reality TV show would Jeff Probst say that line?

Answer: Survivor

First airing in 2000, "Survivor" became the grandaddy of reality TV in the U.S., spanning dozens of seasons in exotic locations and forcing its contestants to vote each other out in the quest to outwit, outplay, and outlast for one million dollars. While many other series fell by the wayside after the reality TV boom at the start of the 2000s, "Survivor" maintained high ratings in part because each season would have different casts, different mechanics, and different twists; there would never be one single way to play the game, and from a social perspective, the experiment would always differ.
10. David Haller is the titular superhero of what Marvel series first aired on FX in 2017?

Answer: Legion

Legion, the mutant son of Professor X, is followed in this unique series with a striking visual aesthetic evoking near-insanity. As David Haller struggles to make sense of the demons in his own head, the mutants around him make attempts to use or save him from the dangers which will, if left unchecked, kill them all.

The show ended up receiving great praise, topping even that of Netflix's several series (in the "Defenders" canon) with Aubrey Plaza finding recognition for her dark role.
