Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Legs 1 and 2, teams raced from the United States over to Australia completing tasks in Sydney and what Outback mining town?

Answer: Broken Hill

Leaving California in the beginning of this second all-star season of the race, eleven teams headed over the Pacific to Sydney, Australia to begin a tough course. After a series of tasks involving water sports and maritime activities in Sydney, the teams stopped at a Pit Stop on Shelly Beach only to receive an immediate new clue.

By the next day, teams ended up in Broken Hill, Australia. This was a particularly noteworthy stop in the race-- during one task, the teams dressed up as kangaroos and had to hop around the city searching for their route marker.

The Pit Stop, at which U-Turned team Amanda and Kris were eliminated, was at the Junction Mine.
2. In Leg 3 in Japan, teams were able to stand under the frigid waters of Yuhi Falls for which task?

Answer: Detour

Taking a train from Broken Hill to Sydney, teams were told to fly to Tokyo, Japan, then drive through Honshu to several unique destinations ranging from a dojo for the Road Block to either the rushing waterfalls of Mount Fuji or the muddy fields of Minamiashigara.

In the 'Prayer of Purity' Detour task completed by only a few teams, some were able to participate in a Shinto cleansing ritual culminating in a dip beneath the freezing-cold Yuhi Falls for a minute. Teams ultimately checked in at the Pit Stop in front of the Commodore Perry Monument in Yokosuka.
3. Heading to China in Leg 4, teams visited Jade Dragon Mountain before pounding candy in what beautiful, historic city?

Answer: Lijiang

Leaving Tokyo in Leg 4, the remaining nine teams traveled to Kunming and then onward to the Lijiang region, a spot at a high altitude in Yunnan Province. After riding yaks, they had to travel up to a spruce meadow on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to complete a zodiac-themed Road Block, then descend into the UNESCO Heritage Site, the Old City of Lijiang, to either guide a procession through the town or pound hard candy to receive their next clue. Reaching the fourth Pit Stop, no one was eliminated. Instead, teams were told to keep racing directly from that point.
4. What were teams asked to do during the Road Block task in Kunming's Stone Forest?

Answer: Construct a dinosaur skeleton

Taking a train to Kunming in Leg 5, teams completed a number of tasks, some cultural and some more technical-- while also contending with a Double U-Turn (which Jaime and Cara and Flight Time and Big Easy were forced to face). In the end of the leg, teams headed to the Stone Forest of Yunnan Province, a site known for its unique geological formations and its propensity to be an archaeological hotspot.

Here, during a tough Road Block, one member of each team had to construct a dilophosaurus with all of the skeletal parts given.

After this, Jamie and Cara, who originally overcame their U-Turn, fell behind and were eliminated at Green Lake Park.
5. In Leg 7, teams were told to cross what Indian holy river, finding clues on the many ghats on shore?

Answer: Ganges

Flying to Kolkata, India in Leg 6, teams were faced with a tough tea-themed challenge which ended up knowing Margie and Luke out of the competition at the Fountain of Joy in Maidan Park. In the following leg, the final seven teams were flown to Varanasi, India, a holy city situated on the Ganges River. Most of the tasks held here were cultural/religious in nature; the Road Block involved searching for holy men. During the Detour teams got their hands dirty either making fuel patties from cow dung or by delivering water buffalo across the Ganges.

At the end of this leg, father-daughter team Ron and Christina went home.
6. During Leg 8, teams were able to enjoy a Detour meal on the Wiener Riesenrad, observing what Austrian city at the same time?

Answer: Vienna

After the heat of India in Legs 6 and 7, teams flew to the chilly, snowy city of Vienna, Austria in Leg 8 making deliveries and completing odd-jobs along the way. During the Detour, the six teams had a choice of delivering a couch from Sigmund Freud's museum to the University of Vienna or having an Austrian meal in twelve minutes aboard the Wiener Riesenrad.

After this, teams ended the leg in Salzburg, specifically at the Villa Trapp (known for its association with "The Sound of Music").
7. In Leg 9, teams crossed the entirety of what small European Principality?

Answer: Liechtenstein

After a short stay in Austria, teams had an even shorter stay in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Arriving on the border in Schaanwald, teams were given a Road Block task in which one member had to hop onto a motorized bicycle and measure the distance it would take to get them to their teammate at Castle Gutenberg, twenty-two kilometers away on the other side of Liechtenstein. If they got this wrong they would have to start over.

After this, teams completed the rest of the leg in Switzerland and Jet and Cord, who fell behind at the Road Block, were U-Turned and eliminated.
8. In Leg 10, teams performed a rescue mission on the slopes of what famous Swiss Alp?

Answer: Matterhorn

In Leg 10, the final five teams had an opportunity to either rappel into an ice crevasse on the Matterhorn or dig for a rescue beacon on its slopes. Both tasks were completed high on the mountainside in deep snow. After this, returning to the city of Zermatt, teams had to embark on an interesting culinary task, creating a Travelocity Roaming Gnome entirely out of decadent Swiss chocolate.

In their rush, Kent and Vyxsin were eliminated for taking a taxi to the Pit Stop instead of traveling on foot.
9. In the penultimate leg of the race, the final four teams raced to Rio de Janeiro. On Copacabana Beach, all of the teams mixed up some caipirinhas, but before that they had to have which of the following done?

Answer: A full-body wax

Flying out of the freezing cold of the Alps and into the sunny paradise of Brazil's coast, teams stopped off in Rio de Janeiro to sing and dance with local festival-goers. Before hitting the beach, teams had to visit Centro de Orientação Profissional Salon for a fifteen minute full-body 'Brazilian' waxing session.

After this they had a Detour task-- all four teams inevitably had to complete 'On the Rocks', which involved making one hundred perfect caipirinhas on the beach. After this, Zev and Justin were eliminated.
10. Teams' final destination was Seven Mile Bridge, a landmark in which U.S. State?

Answer: Florida

In the final leg of the race, the final three teams flew to Miami, Florida and completed two Road Block tasks before heading southward to Key Largo for the final stretch. After boating across the islands, assembling a trailer park set-up, and hopping onto large tricycles, Jen and Kisha crossed the entirety of the Seven Mile Bridge to step on the Finish Line mat at Pigeon Key in first place, becoming the second all-female team to win the $1,000,000 prize.

They originally placed fourth in "The Amazing Race 14".
