Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adebisi is sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in May 1993. Which crime is he convicted of?

Answer: Murder in the first degree

Adebisi is sent to Oz after murdering an undercover policeman with a machete. Adebisi is originally from Nigeria, and moves to the USA around 15 years before his arrest. Despite the length of time he has spent in the States, he still has a strong Nigerian accent. Not much else is known about his life before Oz, other than the fact that he either has or had a wife.
2. Who does Adebisi conspire with in the murder of Nino Schibetta?

Answer: Ryan O'Reilly

Ryan O'Reilly and Adebisi begin to spike Nino's food with ground glass, whilst they are working in the kitchens. Over time, the glass damages Nino's internal organs, and he dies after hemorrhaging all over his body. Nino saw promise in Adebisi, and wanted to make him a partner in the drug trade, but Ryan and Adebisi wanted to remove Nino from the trade altogether, in order to maximise their own profits.
3. In order to get revenge for his father's death, Peter Schibetta tries to ambush Adebisi in the kitchens, with the help of Chucky Pancamo. Adebisi manages to incapacitate Pancamo by hitting him with which item?

Answer: Tin of peaches

Adebisi hits Pancamo repeatedly in the head with the peaches, before locking him in the food storage area. He then attacks the much physically weaker Peter Schibetta, beating and raping him. Peter is traumatised and humiliated by the rape, and ends up being committed to the psychiatric ward, and losing all power and respect with the Italian Mafia.
4. Adebisi has a short-lived romance with Shirley Bellinger. Why does she ultimately reject him?

Answer: Because he is black

Adebisi and Shirley begin a relationship despite having never seen each other. Adebisi slips notes onto her lunch trays, which are then delivered to her on death row, and she slips replies back to the kitchens with her leftovers. The letters start as simple "I love you" proclamations, but soon become more explicit. Adebisi doesn't understand all the words Shirley uses, so Ryan O'Reilly has to help him read some of the letters.

For Shirley's birthday, Adebisi leaves a cupcake with a candle on her lunch tray. He also arranges to swap jobs for the day with Timmy Kirk, who sweeps and mops death row, in order to surprise her. When he introduces himself, Shirley immediately retreats away from him, and uses a racial slur against him, angering him and ending the relationship.

Shirley's racism seems to have lessened by the next series, when she tries to kiss another black inmate, Moses Deyell.
5. Adebisi ends season 2 in the psychiatric ward, next to Peter Schibetta, after having a nervous breakdown. What is the main trigger of his breakdown?

Answer: The death of Kipekemie Jara

During the riot, Adebisi does succumb to heroin withdrawal, and is sent to solitary when the riot ends. Although he does start to lose his grip at this point, he is released back into Emerald City at the start of season 2.

Kipekemie Jara is an old Yorube man who bonds with Adebisi, and acts as a father figure. Their relationship seems to have an odd effect on Adebisi, who starts having strange visions and hallucinations. When Jara is murdered by Kenny Wangler, Adebisi has a complete breakdown and is committed to the psychiatric ward.
6. Adebisi infects Antonio Nappa with HIV, by pricking him with a needle laced with infected blood. How does Adebisi get the blood?

Answer: He draws the blood from one of the AIDS patients with a syringe.

Adebisi asks to be transferred to the AIDS ward under the pretence of wanting to learn more about the disease which causes so much death in his home country. During his work, he draws blood from Robbie Gerth, a patient in the later stages of the disease. He tells Robbie that Dr Nathan has asked him to take the blood, as she has dropped his previous sample. Robbie allows him to take it, but later admits to Adebisi that he knows why he took it.

Adebisi attaches the disease-laced needle to a comb, and then pricks Antonio with it while passing him in the common room. Antonio feels a pinch, but he has no idea what has happened, and is later thoroughly confused by his diagnosis.
7. In an attempt to prove to Pancamo that he is capable of joining him in the drug trade, Adebisi agrees to remove his predecessors, Kenny Wangler, Poet, and Junior Pierce, from the equation. Rather than killing Poet and Pierce, he ensures they are sent to the hospital wing by doing what to them?

Answer: Scalding them

Adebisi knocks them to the floor whilst on kitchen duty, then pours a vat of boiling liquid over them. Poet and Pierce end up in the hospital for a long time while their wounds heal. Kenny Wangler is away at the time, attending his wife's funeral, and when he returns he discovers that his allies are gone, and he has been left at Adebisi's mercy.
8. Who informs the Warden that Adebisi provided Guillaume Tarrant with a gun?

Answer: Raoul Hernandez

Adebisi receives the gun from Clayton Hughes, before he is fired as a CO. Rather than using it himself, he plans to engineer a situation where a white inmate will kill a black inmate, thereby increasing the likelihood of McManus being fired as unit manager, and replaced with a black man.

After noticing that Wangler, Poet, and Pierce are bullying Guillaume Tarrant - a mild mannered French inmate, with no way to defend himself - Adebisi anonymously leaves the gun with him. When Wangler next tries to attack Tarrant, he snaps, and starts firing at everyone that moves.

In an outcome even more advantageous for Adebisi than he originally planned, four black men end up being killed, including one guard, before Tarrant turns the gun on himself.
9. Martin Querns tells Adebisi that certain rules must be followed with regards to drugs and violence. What are Querns' instructions to Adebisi?

Answer: He can have free reign with regards to the drug trade, as long as there is no violence.

Martin Querns takes over as unit manager for Emerald City after McManus is fired. He believes that prisoners who are on drugs are quiet prisoners, and his main objective is to end the violence which has plagued the unit. Recognising the influence that Adebisi has among the prisoners in the unit, Querns allows Adebisi to get away with anything he wants, in return for ensuring that there is no violence.
10. After McManus returns as unit manager, Adebisi is informed that he will be moved out of his cell into another location. Where is he going to be sent?

Answer: Gen pop

The prisoners in Emerald City are given more privileges than those in the rest of the prison, so a return to Gen Pop (general population) is not an attractive prospect. Whilst Querns was in power, he transferred a great deal of white prisoners to Gen Pop, in order to replace them with black inmates, at Adebisi's request. McManus' first act when reinstated as unit manager is to transfer the prisoners back to their original places, as well as moving Adebisi out.

At this point, Adebisi realises that he has been betrayed by Karim Said, who gave evidence of Adebisi's behaviour to the warden. Furious, Adebisi confronts Said with a shank - a move that costs him his life when Said kills Adebisi in self defence.
