Kyle and Stan had trouble containing their laughter, but Cartman just stared at the couple and then quietly retreated to his bedroom. After Kyle and Stan had directed the Thompsons to Kenny's house, they went upstairs to ask Cartman what was wrong. Cartman revealed his greatest fear: "I think I just saw the funniest thing I'll ever see. And I think I blew a funny fuse. [...] It was just too much and my sense of humor overloaded. I don't think anything will ever be funny again."

The boys stopped by his house to invite him, but he was in trouble with his parents for ruining his school photos. His mom accused him of making a "goofy face" and Butters tried to defend himself: "No! That's just what I look like! See?" Then Butters just pointed at his face.

His mother was upset by it, though, and threatened him, "Don't you make that face at me young man!" A confused Butters replied, "I'm not making a face, Mom!" His mother, clearly fed up, laid down the law: "Stop it! ... Fine, Butters, if you don't want to stop making that stupid face at me, you can just stay in your room for another week." Begrudgingly, Butters faced his fate: "Another week? I hate my stupid face."

Cartman had gone to see Mr. Mackey to discuss his concerns over his loss. When Mr. Mackey asked what he used to find funny, Cartman replied: "The usual stuff. Dirty jokes, funny movies, seeing someone die. This morning I even saw a little girl get her fingers caught in a car door and I couldn't laugh. I mean, I knew it was funny, but I couldn't laugh."

Mr. Mackey was trying to reassure Cartman and told him, "If you have completely lost your sense of humor you could always become a writer for the show 'Friends'."

They just pushed the scones in between their cheeks! Mr. Thompson made a bit of a mess, spewing crumbs as he chewed. The head of the company later offered to take them for chili, but they seemed hesitant to accept, explaining, "We don't really like chili; it makes us throw up."

Cartman had determined he'd lost his sense of humor and was composing what sounded like a suicide letter to his mother. Then he picked up the gun, put it in his mouth, and took a big bite! He then amended the note to ask his mom to buy him some more chocolate guns, noting his preference for the marshmallow-filled ones over the peanut butter-filled variety.
