Connie is loosely based on a character from the comic books, which were created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore. In the comics, she first appears in issue 127, where she and her group encounter a herd being led by Jesus and return with him to Alexandria, where they are interviewed by Andrea.

In the television series, however, Connie is introduced in season 9, episode 5 ("What Comes After?") when her group is surrounded by walkers. There's firing from the nearby trees, which enables them to escape into the woods, where they discover Judith with Rick's revolver and hat. Judith introduces herself and takes them back to Alexandria after Aaron catches up with her. (She's apparently run off on her own.)

Kelly is Connie's younger sister. She was a high school student prior to the apocalypse, and the two have survived together ever since. Kelly is played by actress Angel Theory. In the comic book on which the show is based, Kelly was the name of Connie's boyfriend, not her sister.

Carol's actions put a rift in her relationship with Daryl.
