T-Dog makes his first appearance in season 1, episode 2, "Guts." He is among the scavengers in the department store where Glenn leads Rick. The name T-Dog is short for the character's full name, Theodore Douglas. T-Dog is played by actor IronE Singleton and his character has no counterpart in the comic book series on which "The Walking Dead" is based.

IronE Signleton, who plays T-Dog, told "Collider" that "T-Dog basically had my life story. He grew up in the projects, in the city, and he was fortunate enough to get to college through a football scholarship" ("IroE Signleton Talks Latest Episode of 'The Walking Dead'," November 10, 2012).

In season 3, episode 5, "Say the Word," Glenn talks about how T-Dog helped at the start of the apocalypse by using the church van to help evacuate the elderly and other refugees, including Glenn. T-Dog is one of the supply runners who goes to the department store in Atlanta.

Daryl, Sasha, Glenn, Hershel, and Carol served on the prison council, but not T-Dog.

Rick handcuffs Merle to a pipe after he and T-Dog get in a fight and Merle pulls a gun. T-Dog accidently drops the key down the drain, though Merle accuses him of doing it on purpose. They have to leave Merle on the rooftop. T-Dog later volunteers to return with Rick and Daryl to fetch him, but by then Merle has sawed off his own hand and escaped.

T-Dog tells Daryl and Rick this in season 1, episode 4, "Vatos." Glenn then devises a plan to retrieve the bag of guns with Daryl covering him. Unfortunately, Glenn ends up being abducted, and T-Dog and the others must go trade for him.

So the group drinks his wine, and the next morning, T-Dog makes them powdered eggs, especially for Glenn, who is badly hung over.

In season 2, episode 1, "What Lies Ahead," the group is scavenging for supplies on the highway when a herd comes through. Trying to get out of sight, T-Dog slashes himself on a rusty piece of broken metal. Daryl saves him by throwing a walker body over him to keep his scent masked from the passing herd. Later, he is patched up, but he develops a case of blood poisoning and begins to hallucinate. Daryl gives him antibiotics from Merle's stash of STD medications to treat his condition.

In season 3, episode 4, "Killer Within," Axel pleads with Rick to be allowed into his group. T-Dog is willing to incorporate Axel and Oscar into the group and suggests they may be an asset. Daryl says he's known guys like them his whole life, that they're degenerates but not psychopaths. Nevertheless, he doesn't want to include them in the group and thinks they should take their chances on the road. Rick also declines Axel's pleas, offering him supplies for the road instead. Before Axel and Oscar can leave, however, walkers spill into the prison courtyard.

Answer: On the shoulder

In season 3, episode 4, "Killer Within," T-Dog and Carol are parking the group's vehicles. As walkers spill in, T-Dog hastens to shut the gate but is bit by a walker in the process. Because the walker bites his shoulder, he knows no amputation is possible and he will likely end up dying.

However, he uses the last of his life and energy to try to help Carol escape back to the safety of the secured Cell Block C. "This is God's plan," he tells her. "He'll take care of me. Always has. He's gonna help me lead you out of these tombs."

Answer: "I'm dead! Just go!"

When Carol and T-Dog reach the laundry room, their passage is blocked by two walkers. T-Dog sacrifices himself by throwing himself into them and pinning them away from Carol and telling her to escape while she has the chance. When she looks back at him, he says, "I'm dead! Just go!" and as the walkers tear into him, she runs on.

Glenn said of T-Dog after his death, "He wasn't just a good guy. He was the best."

Axel and Oscar end up helping the group when the walkers spill in and the prison alarm blares to attract even more. Oscar speculates someone has activated the generator. In the generator room, they find that the prisoner Andrew, who was chased out into the prison yard earlier, is to blame for luring the walkers. In the next episode, "Say the Word," Axel and Oscar are warily included in the group.

Tomas was killed by Rick before the incident began.
