Jerry loves the fact that his new girlfriend's name is Lois because the name has a connection to Superman. In the beginning of the episode, Jerry finds out that her boss is Duncan Meyer, a person he knows from high school. Duncan ends up using Lois in order to get back at Jerry during the episode.

At Elaine's apartment, Elaine is arguing with a Chinese food delivery man because they didn't bring her order. She ends up getting placed on the 'do not deliver' list and George finds a Communist newspaper in Elaine's apartment. Soon, Elaine realizes that her boyfriend, Ned, is a Communist because of his drab clothing and his reading material. When she asks him, he admits it.

At Elaine's apartment, Jerry tells Elaine the story of the big race. During the race (which happened in high school), Jerry accidentally started the race early and no one noticed. The only one to suspect anything was Duncan Meyer, and when a re-race was demanded, Jerry never accepted the challenge. Now, Duncan is getting his revenge.

Kramer ends up getting the job with the help of Mickey (first seen in "The Stand-In") who decided to be Kramer's elf. Kramer couldn't be more unsuited for the job. He doesn't even know the names of Santa's reindeer. After this announcement, Duncan wants to get together with Jerry and Lois for lunch.

George ends up reading Ned's "Daily Worker" and finds a personal ad that says 'appearance is not important'. When he gets a call at work from Natalie, his secretary, Ada, overhears him and thinks that he's a communist. This idea gets to Mr. Steinbrenner.

At Monk's, Jerry and Duncan argue about the race and like planned, George comes in pretending that he hasn't talked to Jerry in years. He confirms that Jerry never had a head start, and when Duncan says that he's still not satisfied, Jerry finally agrees to race him once more.

When he meets up with Jerry and Duncan at Monk's, he makes up a horrible story that he's an architect that designed an addition to the Guggenheim Museum, and despite the fact that he's bald, he has millions of dollars. He and Jerry end up taking jabs at each other despite the fact that George's story is seriously flawed.

Elaine's relationship with Ned starts to get a bit rocky when she buys him a flashier shirt than his current drab clothes. After a small fight, he asks Elaine to order some Chinese food from Hop Sing's, but after the previous delivery, she has been put on the 'do not deliver' list. She decides to go under a Ned's name to order to food.

After reading some of Ned's Communism material, Kramer starts telling kids that some products at Coleman's are bad because they're assembled by children in Taiwan. Soon the kids start calling Kramer a Communist and he and Mickey are fired from their jobs.

In the end, the delivery guy from Hop Sing's realizes that Elaine is behind the second delivery and he blacklists Ned. Because of this, he and Elaine break up. Meanwhile, George is set to go to Cuba since Mr. Steinbrenner thinks he's a Communist. He is told to find a Cuban southpaw to play for the Yankees. Before the race, Lois tells Duncan to give her a raise if he loses and he tells her that she'll get a trip to Hawaii for two weeks if he does. Kramer starts a car to take George to the airport (which sounds like a starting pistol) and Jerry starts the race early.

He crosses the finish line first and Lois gets a free two-week vacation to Hawaii.
