Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You can play as Banjo the bear.

Answer: Diddy Kong Racing

Banjo first appeared in "Diddy Kong Racing", an early Nintendo 64 kart-racing game in which the player could drive a car, plane, or hovercraft as Diddy Kong or one of his friends to stop the evil Wizpig. The game turned out to be a very popular title from Rare, resulting in a version on the Nintendo DS later on down the line. Banjo would go on to star in Rare's "Banjo-Kazooie" series, even as it was later brought to Xbox 360 by Microsoft.

Another character from the game, Conker the squirrel, would star in "Conker's Bad Fur Day" before also heading to Xbox.
2. You can play the Song of Time.

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Although the Song of Time would return in later games in the series, it first appeared as an ocarina song in "Ocarina of Time", during which the song could be played in order to affect different facets of the environment. The Song of Time would play a bigger role in "Majora's Mask", the second "Legend of Zelda" game on the console, effectively acting as a reset switch for Link's three-day time limit in Termina.
3. You can play Sushi-Go-Round.

Answer: Pokemon Stadium

Sushi-Go-Round was one of nine mini-games playable in "Pokemon Stadium" if and when you didn't want to spend your time battling gym leaders or other players for a change. In this mini-game, you played as a Lickitung in the middle of a circular sushi conveyor belt and you needed to eat up more of the sushi than your opponents (other players or computers). Different rolls resulted in different points and chaining the same roll lick after lick could multiply points.

The game, otherwise, was much more about the battles.
4. You can be the man with the Golden Gun.

Answer: Goldeneye 64

This Nintendo Game of the Year award winner from Rare was actually a fairly bare-bones shooter title with less-than-stellar graphics, but it ended up becoming one of the most popular games on the console, even though "Goldeneye" was released several years before.

While the game had a lengthy story mode, players could also join in a local multiplayer game in which up to four people (more with proper hardware) could battle in several game modes as various characters and with multiple weapon styles. One of these, 'The Man with the Golden Gun', featured a gun that could kill anyone with a single bullet.
5. You can play as Kazooie the Breegull.

Answer: Banjo-Tooie

Kazooie always appeared in Banjo's backpack in Rare's "Banjo-Kazooie", but you could never control Kazooie on her own until the release of "Banjo-Tooie", the second game in the Rare series. To do so you would need to locate a pair of Split Up pads. Free from the backpack, the Breegul was able to fly faster, run without needing to worry about a bear, and hatch eggs solo. Of course, Kazooie would have less health than Banjo; combined they would be much stronger.
6. You can throw a banana at your opponent.

Answer: Mario Kart 64

Bananas weren't the only things; your arsenal in "Mario Kart 64" could include several types of shells and upside-down item blocks to trip up your opponents. In this kart racing game, you faced off against seven other players on one of sixteen tracks in four cups, fighting to cross the finish line in first place after three laps. Bananas were a relatively interesting item; you could receive a single banana or a bunch which could trail behind you in a line until you placed them either in front or behind you on the track.
7. You can fire Peanut Popguns.

Answer: Donkey Kong 64

Peanut Popguns were one of Diddy Kong's special attacks in "Donkey Kong 64" in which all five playable characters ended up receiving weapons of different sorts from Funky Kong's weapon shops. This game by Rare, much like "Banjo-Kazooie", was a 3D platformer and collect-a-thon in which the player had to re-obtain DK's banana hoard from King K. Rool, traveling through several different worlds nabbing them, smaller bananas, blueprint pieces, skills, weapons, melons, and plenty more.
8. You can become a Deku Scrub.

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Link is transformed into a Deku Scrub in the very beginning of "Majora's Mask" and needs to spend his first three days in Clock Town in said form, eventually being able to take off the mask with the Song of Healing and being able to transform back and forth anytime thereafter. During this game, he also transforms into a Goron and a Zora, though the Deku Scrub is the primary transformation leading into the first portion of the game in the Southern Swamp, home to a kingdom of Deku Scrubs.
9. You can visit Jolly Roger Bay.

Answer: Super Mario 64

Jolly Roger Bay was the third level players could visit in the early Nintendo 64 title "Super Mario 64" after Bob-omb Battlefield and Whomp's Fortress, one of the first 3D "Mario" games in the series (and the first 3D platformer featuring Mario). Also the first water level of the game, players were introduced to swimming mechanics during this stage, something that would be used further in Hazy Maze Cave, Wet-Dry World, and Dire, Dire Docks.
10. You can throw a Pokeball at your opponent.

Answer: Super Smash Bros.

While you could certainly play as Pikachu or Jigglypuff in this beat 'em up fighting game, Pokeballs were never character-specific items. Instead, any fighter could pick one up if dropped during battle and hurl it at an opponent, letting loose the creature within who would, at random, use a special attack or flop around on the stage like a Goldeen. Pokeballs would return for subsequent games in the "Smash Bros." series as a random element for item matches.
