Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lurch received what in the mail?

Answer: Invitation to the Butler's Ball

Thing brought the mail in and his box was about two feet from Morticia. But instead of getting the mail herself, Lurch came from elsewhere in the house to get the mail from Thing and bring it to Morticia. Morticia then looked at the mail, seeing it was for Lurch, and handed it back to him.

It turns out it was his annual invitation to the Butler's Ball, which he never accepted year after year. Morticia decides Lurch needs to get out more and make more friends.
2. What does Lurch confess to Gomez and Morticia?

Answer: He can't dance

Gomez and Morticia decided that they will insist Lurch attend the ball this year and Lurch confessed he was a wallflower and couldn't dance. Gomez said dancing was so simple!
3. When Morticia holds up Gomez as an example of someone who maintains outside interests, what example does he give?

Answer: Collection of coroner's reports

Gomez said he had the most enviable collection of coroner's reports in the neighborhood. (He probably had the only collection in the neighborhood, but that's beside the point.)
4. The first method the Addamses try is to enlist a teacher for Lurch. How does this effort begin?

Answer: She fainted

The dance teacher took one look at Lurch and fainted. Then as she came to, Puglsey stood over her with a toad and she fainted for a second time. Then Thing got a glass of water and she fainted for a third time. Morticia came in and got smelling salts from Thing... and she finally came to.

But she heard that the Addamses were going to complain to her employer, so she quickly got to her feet and started dancing with Gomez, annoying Morticia.
5. What did Gomez say was Pugsley's best feature?

Answer: Nose of a bloodhound

Gomez and Morticia couldn't find Lurch, who was depressed because of the Butler's Ball. Morticia worried that Lurch did something drastic, but Gomez wasn't worried. After all, if he had done something, Morticia's vulture would be circling the house. Morticia decided she would have the kids look for Lurch - Gomez agreed it was a good idea because Pugsley had a nose of a bloodhound.
6. Who ultimately finds Lurch when he's hiding in the house?

Answer: Wednesday

Although Pugsley may have the nose of a bloodhound, it was Thing and Wednesday who found Lurch hiding in the playroom. When she confronted Lurch, he confessed he liked being miserable and she said Lurch should find a nice girl to be miserable with.
7. Who taught Wednesday how to dance?

Answer: Mama

While talking with Lurch, Wednesday offered to teach him how to dance for the ball. After all, Mama taught Wednesday how to dance and she's a great dancer. But Mama taught Wednesday ballet, not exactly the type of dancing Lurch needed for the Butler's Ball.
8. Next, Morticia decides she will teach Lurch to dance. What style does she teach Lurch?

Answer: Contemporary

Morticia won the Twist Award at the Funeral Director's Ball. (Apparently she won a silver urn.) Lurch ends up throwing his back out, so Gomez puts him on the rack.

We've seen Morticia being interested in contemporary music and dance in previous episodes, where she had Lurch play more of a contemporary style for her to dance only to have Gomez go right over to Lurch to request a tango minutes later.
9. Who is Lurch's final teacher?

Answer: Gomez

Gomez decides that Lurch is too shy with Morticia and a dance teacher is a waste of smelling salts. Lurch really needs a great teacher and a great psychologist... meaning Gomez himself.

Gomez tries teaching Lurch the tango, with Gomez taking the woman's part. Lurch complains that Gomez didn't shave, but Lurch actually gets the tango! Although Gomez throws his back out.
10. Lurch won the contest! How?

Answer: Morticia snuck in and was his partner

There was a dance contest at the Butler's Ball and luckily it was a tango! Everyone at the ball wore costumes, so Morticia was able to attend the ball and not be recognized. Poor Lurch sat on the side of the room until the contest was announced and Morticia pulled him onto the floor to dance the tango with her.

Apparently Gomez promised the judges a large contribution to their charity if they made the dance for the contest be a tango so Lurch had a chance to win.
