Survivors of the Flux Trivia Quiz

Answer: Mexico, Constantinople, Nepal, China

They start in Mexico searching for an artifact giving them a clue to the end of the world.

They take it to Constantinople, where they discover the day is December 5. They cannot find the year because they are busy fleeing a bomb.

Next they are in Nepal, where they have a hilarious meeting with a Guru.

Then off to the Great Wall of China, where they leave a VERY BIG message for Karvanista.

And finally to Liverpool and the Williamson tunnels where they are reunited with the Doctor.

There were also several ocean trips along the way. Phileas Fogg had nothing on these companions. They even killed a murderous waiter and dumped him overboard.

Finally, Mandip Gill looked amazing in those turn-of-the-century traveling clothes .

Answer: 1957

Prentis in at the very start in 1957, working for the new general who is forming UNIT.

In 1967, UNIT is well established. Prentis kills Farquarh, making room for Lethbridge Stewart to take over.

In 1987, Prentis kills the member of Parliament who has oversight of UNIT so he can take his place.

In 2018, Kate Stewart confronts Prentis and threatens to take him down. He attempts to murder her, forcing Kate into hiding.

As the episode closes, it is 2021 and Prentis is running UNIT.

In the "hiding in plain sight" category, Prentis is almost an anagram for Serpent. I'll give the Grand Serpent this -- he plays an excellent long game.

Craig Stephenson is back as Grand Serpent and actually seems even more evil as a bureaucrat than he did as a dictator.

Answer: Tecteun

Tecteun, her adoptive mother. They have a rather brutal conversation in which the Doctor accused Tecteun of stealing her life. Although given the incredible adventures of the Doctor, that seems an odd complaint.

Karvanista was at Division, and worked with the Fugitive Doctor, a long time ago. Division is probably the last place the Master would go, as they consider him one of the biggest criminals in the universe.

Ko Sharmus died killing off the Master's Cyber army on Gallifrey in "The Timeless Child" (2020).

Barbara Flynn was Awesome/Tecteun. The veteran actress began working in 1980, and is best known for her sitcom work.

Answer: Ood

Tecteun had an Ood as her assistant. You could tell the Ood was not happy with his job. He actually assisted the Doctor by showing her a map detailing the impact of the Flux.

Simon Carew was in the Ood costume, and Silas Carson did the voice. Carson first did the Ood voice in "The Impossible Planet" (2006). He was also Nate Guthray in the "Star Wars" prequels.

Answer: Fetch Your Dog

After a round of playful banter -- well, the Guru was amused -- he simply told them "Fetch your dog."

Yaz, Dan, and Jericho painted an enormous message along the Great Wall of China. Contrary to popular belief, the Great Wall is not visible from space.

Karvanista was less than amused to get a message from Dan in 1904 because he could not time travel.

Answer: Diane

Vinder is captured by the Passenger prison and runs into Diane. She has been there long enough she has figured out how to escape.

Diane was played by Nadia Albina. Diane is the possible love interest of Dan Lewis and works at the museum. Nadia has been acting since 2007 and her resume includes "Othello" and "Macbeth".

Answer: A virus

Tecteun called the Doctor a virus. The Division actually created the Flux to wipe out most of the known universe simply to deal with the Doctor. Now that's a bad ass reputation.

Neo was an anomaly in "The Matrix".

Answer: Doorway 9

Doorway 9 emitted huge flames of death. It came in handy when Sontarans attacked and Yaz used the door to destroy them.

The doorways were part of the tunnels Williamson built under Liverpool. Some were safe and others were extremely dangerous.

Answer: Sontarans

Prentis has become the head of UNIT after decades of infiltration. He basically green-lights the Sontaran invasion of Earth.

Sontarans first appeared during the Third Doctor adventure "The Time Warrior" (1973). They are a clone race who are bred for war and violence. Since they look like potatoes, their hyper-aggressive banter can be amusing.

The Sontarans were minimal in "Survivors" but played a major role in "The Vanquishers."

Answer: Chris Chibnall

Chibnall wrote the whole "Flux" season. This was his last full season at "Doctor Who". He hired Jodie Whitaker as the Doctor and they worked together from 2018 to 2022.

Azhur Saleem directed three episodes of "Flux". Working on "Doctor Who" was his big break in television.

Kevin McNally played Jericho. He started acting in 1974 and has appeared regularly in both films and television over the last five decades.

Craig Parkinson was Prentis (AKA Grand Serpent). His credits include "Line of Duty" (2012-21) and "Whitechapel" (2010). In addition to acting, he is a popular podcaster.
