"Resolution", the only episode to air in 2019, had the Doctor confront a reconnaissance Dalek that was uncovered after a millennium underground. "Revolution" opens with the Doctor fighting the Dalek in a laboratory in Cheltenham. Fast foward 367 minutes, when the British government gets custody of the Dalek remains, which leads to the events in "Revolution of the Daleks." "The Timeless Children" (2020) was the finale for series 12. "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (2018) was Jodie Whittaker's first full episode. And "The Tsurunga Conundrum" (2018) featured the Pting.

Jack Robertson (Chris Noth), the billionaire hotel owner who caused an outbreak of giant mutant spiders underneath Sheffield, returns to the 2021 New Year's Special. Robertson really outdoes himself in this episode - bemoaning the destruction of the Daleks for its impact on his bottom line, betraying the human race to the Daleks and ultimately trying to paint himself as a hero. Chris North is probably best known for his work as Detective Mike Logan on "Law and Order" (1995-1996), Carrie Bradshaw's ultimate husband Mister Big on "Sex and the City" (1998 - 2004) and Governor Peter Florrick on "The Good Wife" (2009-2016). Krasko was the time traveler in "Rosa" (2018) who attempted to derail the Civil Rights movement by interfering in December 1955. Tim Shaw was the alien warrior who abducted people in "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (2018). He returned in the series 11 finale "The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos" (2018). Charlie Duffy was the factory worker who came up with exploding bubble wrap in "Kerblam!: (2018). Since he was killed in the explosion that blew up the delivery robots, little chance he will be returning.

Jack manages to use time warping technology to break the Doctor out of the Judoon prison. He had to spend 19 years there himself to accomplish it. It is uncertain how long the Doctor spent inside the Judoon prison. They manage to escape via Jack's vortex manipulator. Jack Harkness made his first appearance in the series 1 episodes "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" (2005). He returned in "Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways" in which Rose Tyler made him immortal. Jack would be spun off into his own series "Torchwood" (2006-2011). Jack's most recent appearance was in "Fugitive of the Judoon" (January 2020) in which he warned the Doctor about the lone Cyberman.

A graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Walter has been a regular performer with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her roles include Viola and Lady MacBeth. Walter also played Brutus in "Julius Caesar" and Prospero in "The Tempest" in all female productions of the plays. She won an Olivier Award in 1988 for her work in "Twelfth Night" and "Three Sisters."

The prison was 79 billion light years away according to the title card. Since the size of the known universe is only 46.5 billion light years, wherever the Judoon have that prison, it's one hell of a long trip. And Captain Jack's vortex manipulator is a lot more impressive than we thought. While it was uncertain how long the Doctor had been in the Judoon prison, it was at least several decades, based on the hash marks on the wall and her familiarity with the denizens. Other residents of the prison included a Weeping Angel (nickname Angela), a pair of red-eyed Ood (nickname Bonnie and Clyde), a Pting and a member of The Silence.

It was repeated several times that the time between the events in "The Timeless Children (2020) and "Revolution of the Daleks" (2021) was ten months. Since "Timeless Children" aired on March 1 (simpler times), it has been ten months since viewers last saw the Doctor. This time gave Ryan time to evaluate his life, and he decided to leave the TARDIS. Graham made the decision to stay and help his grandson.

The Dalek farm was in Osaka, the second largest metropolitan area in Japan. It has long been an economic center, and contains the headquarters of many of Japan's leading companies, including Sharp and Panasonic. The Dalek managed to hack into the computer at Jack Robinson's company, hire a construction firm to build a massive cloning facility in Japan and then killed the people who built it. Robertson was actually most worried about the Daleks filling out the proper paperwork.

The Doctor actually relied on the Daleks' obsession with genetic purity to get the elite force Daleks to kill of the "inferior" Dalek/Human hybrid clones. The original Daleks came through and killed off the new batch of Daleks. The Doctor then tricked the elite Daleks into attacking a TARDIS, which she folded in on itself and sent into the Void, taking care of all the "pure" Daleks.

River Song received a sonic screwdriver, which came in handy in "Forests of the Dead". Martha Jones received a super cell phone from the Doctor. Lee Haven Jones directed the Holiday Special after directing the Series 12 episodes "Spyfall Part 2" and "Orphan 55" (both 2020). Jones started working in British television in 2010, and his credits include "Wizards vs Aliens" (2014), "35 Diwrnod" (2015) and "The Bay" (2019). Stone directed the Series 12 episodes "Spyfall Part 1", "Praxeus", "Ascension of the Cyberman" and "The Timeless Children" (all in 2020). Nathan Stewart-Jarrett played Leo Rugazzi, the technician who cloned new Daleks only to be taken over by them in a Dalek plot to take over the world. He is best known to British television audiences as Curtis from "Misfits" (2009-2012) and Ian from "Utopia" (2013-14). Nicholas Briggs returns as the voice of the Daleks, which he first voiced in the 2005 episode "Dalek." He was voiced Daleks, Cybermen, Judoon and Zygon numerous times since the new "Doctor Who" began. Briggs is also executive producer at Big Finish Productions, which has produced numerous "Doctor Who" audio stories.
