Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before the Undead Curse ravaged Drangleic, King Vendrick had two men who played the role of a 'right hand man'. Those two were Velstadt and Raime. Both of these end up becoming boss fights, though while Velstadt's boss fight is simply him going under his normal name, Raime's name as a boss isn't simply 'Raime'. Who is Raime?

Answer: Fume Knight

Fume Knight is fought as the final boss of the "Crown of the Iron King" DLC. His boss room is directly in front of the room where the player can loot the Crown of the Iron King.
2. The Old Dragonslayer boss looks like a carbon copy of Ornstein from "Dark Souls 1", with the only major difference being a color palette swap. According to the game's lore, who is Old Dragonslayer?

Answer: This is never revealed

The in-game lore simply never reveals who this man actually is. There has been endless speculation over the years as to who he could be, but the game itself never provides even an indirect answer, much less anything concrete.
3. Dragonrider is one of two bosses found in Heide's Tower of Flame. Interestingly, while the player could simply enter his boss room and fight as normal, this is one fight where two different methods could be used to prevail. Which of the following is one way the player can win this fight?

Answer: Use a ranged weapon to shoot him from outside the boss room

Dragonrider can be spotted idly standing in his boss room. The angle to see him can be a bit tricky, but if the player approaches the switch which raises a large platform in his boss room and walks behind it, they'll get an angle to spot him. From here, using roughly 130 arrows, the player can damage and bring him to 1 HP without ever confronting him.

He cannot die this way, but when the player goes into his boss room, he will be one easy hit away from defeat.
4. One of the main contentions in the Executioner's Chariot boss fight is dealing with a couple necromancers which will harass the player as they try to disable the chariot. However, if the player is really strapped for time, there is a way they can actually cause the chariot itself to kill these necromancers. The player will need a specific resource, either a particular spell or a particular item. What item will they need?

Answer: Alluring Skull

By tossing an Alluring Skull directly into the path of the chariot, the player can lure the necromancers into a position where the chariot will flatten them as it makes its patrol round. Having just a few of these can take an ordinarily fairly challenging fight and turn it into a total cakewalk by effectively disabling the chariot's support.
5. Through the likes of Dyna and Tilo, it is possible to acquire a weapon that was previously seen wielded by a boss back in "Dark Souls 1." What weapon is this?

Answer: Demon Great Hammer

Unfortunately, there isn't a consistent way to get this specific weapon. The player is going to have to roll the dice. By turning in a Petrified Something, Smooth and Silky Stone or Prism Stone, Dyna and Tilo will give the player a random reward depending on what is given. The likelihood of getting the Demon Great Hammer is at its highest when trading in a rare Petrified Something, but even then remains a meager 2.5%. The likelihood of getting it at its lowest, when trading in a Prism Stone, is a funnily low 0.25%. It's going to take awhile to get it, but it is possible.

The Old Demon Hammer was wielded by the Asylum Demon and it's likenesses in "Dark Souls 1". In that game, the only way to get it was to defeat the Asylum Demon without first obtaining starting weapons or an Estus Flask, a considerably hard challenge.
6. The Pursuer is, true to his name, a frequently seen enemy. How many times can he show up, max, in one playthrough?

Answer: Eight

There is one Pursuer in the Forest of Fallen Giants, appearing as the boss of the area. He can later be seen a total of four times in Lost Bastille, once at the Iron Keep, then on NG+3 only, two Pursuers can be found at Drangleic Castle.
7. Adaptability debuted in "Dark Souls 2" as easily the most controversial skill in the game. It is well known for influencing how many invincibility frames the player gets on their dodge roll, but what is one other thing Adaptability impacts?

Answer: Item usage speed

If at its bare minimum of 3, a player will need a whole three seconds just to use an Estus Flask. At its hard cap of 39, this is reduced to a much more timely 0.75 seconds. This impact is felt when using any item in particular, providing another major incentive to invest in Adaptability.
8. The Head of Vengarl is a useful NPC summon for a few fights. He's also a merchant. What is one of the things he can sell?

Answer: A Greatsword

The Head of Vengarl is the only merchant who can sell infinite amounts of Greatswords. While the player could loot one at No Man's Wharf, purchasing one from him is fairly cheap at just 10,000 souls and is undoubtedly faster.

The Head of Vengarl will also sell the player his weapons, his armor along with an infinite amount of Gold Pine Resins.
9. Benhart of Jugo's short but simple questline requires the player to summon him for three bosses and defeat each boss while ensuring Benhart survives each fight. However, there is one boss he can be summoned for whose defeat in this way actually doesn't count towards Benhart's questline. Which boss fight is this?

Answer: Elana the Squalid Queen

Similarly to Lucatiel with the Burnt Ivory King, Benhart's questline cannot be progressed by having him help you defeat Elana the Squalid Queen. Even if he survives the fight, it simply will not count. The reason for this can be logically concluded to be the same reason Lucatiel's questline won't progress by having her help with Burnt Ivory King: these are DLC bosses.

It would've been unfair to players who purchased the game but were unable to buy the DLC if a base game questline could only be completed in the DLC.
10. Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin acts as a 'secret' boss who can potentially become the game's final boss. In order to get him to appear, a few fairly random conditions must be met before the player defeats Nashandra. Which of the following must be done before beating Nashandra if the player wants to fight Aldia?

Answer: Defeat King Vendrick

Vendrick appears as an optional boss fight one room after a mandatory boss fight with Velstadt the Royal Aegis takes place. By defeating Vendrick and making sure to talk to Aldia at each of his dialogue points before defeating Nashandra, Aldia will appear as the game's final boss. Otherwise, Nashandra will be the default final boss.
11. Each DLC boss, upon being defeated, will give the player some way to obtain their armor set as a cosmetic they can wear themselves. All but one can be purchased, the exception being Burnt Ivory King. To get his armor set, the player needs 50 Loyce Knight Souls. In what way can they maximize the drop rate of these souls?

Answer: Being summoned by another player

When being summoned by another player to fight Burnt Ivory King, the drop rate on Loyce Knight Souls maxes out at 10%. Note that this cannot be further increased by usual farming tools such as equipping a Covetous Gold Serpent ring.
12. The fight with Fume Knight is a tough one. If a player is feeling particularly cocky and wants it to get even harder, they can cause Fume Knight to go straight to second phase at the start of the fight by wearing a specific helm. What helm is this?

Answer: Velstadt's Helm

In the game's lore, Fume Knight and Velstadt had a one on one duel as Fume Knight rebelled against the misguided rule of King Vendrick. Velstadt defeated Fume Knight, and this is likely why the interaction with Velstadt's helm takes place. Either Fume Knight hates Velstadt and the mere sight of him sends him into a rage that causes immediate second phase, or Fume Knight recognizes that the player themselves slew Velstadt, and that he has to go full force to not have the same fate befall him.
13. The Ruler Sword boasts arguably the most unique scaling in the entire franchise. What does the Ruler Sword mainly scale off of?

Answer: Souls

If the player has less than 300,000 souls on their person, the Ruler's Sword will experience a steep reduction in power. Once they hit 300,000 souls, the sword will get progressively stronger until capping out at 1,000,000. At 1,000,000 souls, the Ruler's Sword just pulls ahead of the Claymore in damage output while having the same exact moveset.
14. The Crown of the King is the most powerful headpiece in the game, as it has the power to prevent the player from Hollowing on death, the only gear piece of armor in general to claim that. However, it will not do this by default and the player must visit an NPC for it to be granted this power. Who must the player visit?

Answer: Vendrick

Vendrick will grant the Vendrick's Blessing to the Crown of the King after the player has finished all three DLCs and defeated the hollowed form of Vendrick as a boss. After receiving this blessing and equipping the crown, the player will become fully immune to Hollowing.

They will still drop their souls on death, but will no longer need to spend Human Effigies to reverse their Hollowing after doing so.
15. Heidi Knights across Heide's Tower of Flame will not be hostile towards the player by default. This will change, however, once the player defeats a particular boss. Who is this?

Answer: Dragonrider

By default, Heide Knights will be found sitting, backs to a wall and idle. If they are attacked or if Dragonrider has been defeated and the player gets close, they will rise and attack.
