Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rather than opening with the show's musical theme, "Remembrance" begins with a song that recall's the wedding scene from 2002's "Star Trek: Nemesis". What Irving Berlin classic?

Answer: Blue Skies

"Star Trek: Nemesis" was the last appearance by any of the crew of "The Next Generation"'s USS Enterprise-D and -E. The scene in question occurs near the beginning of the film with Commander Riker and Counselor Troi tying the knot before Riker takes his own command, leaving Picard with Commander Data as his new first officer.

And it is Data who sings "Blue Skies" as his tribute to the happy couple.

This deliberate choice nicely bridges the gap in time since the last appearance while also connecting to Data's death (in that film) and his importance to the "Picard" storyline. And, of course, Brent Spiner reprised his role as Data for the episode, albeit in a dream.
2. Jean-Luc Picard is having a dream/nightmare about playing poker on the Enterprise with Lieutenant-Commander Data at the same time that a deadly attack happens on a planet visible through the windows of Ten Forward in the background. Which planet?

Answer: Mars

This historical tidbit helps fill in some of what has happened in the intervening time since "Nemesis". As a prequel to "Picard" a short episode was released through "Short Treks" (season 2, episode 6) "Children of Mars" just two weeks prior to the release of "Remembrance".

We don't learn it immediately, but the attack on the Mars' Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards was perpetrated by a group of rogue synthetic beings... androids, resulting in the banning of the creation of any more synthetics in the Federation.

The events of "Nemesis" occurred in the year 2379, the attack on Mars in 2385, and the return of "Picard" in 2399.
3. The character of Dahj Asha (portrayed by Isa Briones) is introduced having dinner with her boyfriend Caler... in what American city?

Answer: Greater Boston

We learn that Dahj Asha has been accepted to the Daystrom Institute to work in the fields of artificial intelligence and quantum consciousness. But the nice domestic picture is soon interrupted by an unexpected attack by unknown assailants.

Greater Boston is in the "Star Trek" universe, but the other cities come from elsewhere:

New New York is from "Doctor Who", San Angeles is from "Demolition Man", and Central City is from the "DC Comics" universe.
4. Dahj and her boyfriend are suddenly attacked by in their apartment by three assailants, resulting in Caler's death and her 'activation' as an android. Who attacked them?

Answer: Romulans

Dahj has no idea that she is actually an android, as she looks (and is programmed to be) exactly like a normal human. When the Romulan agents attack her, her hidden programming activates and she manages to kill all three assailants... while unable to see anything after they put a bag over her head. In the aftermath of the tragic attack, Dahj sees a vision of Admiral Picard's face in her mind's eye.

NOTE - we actually learn later in the episode that the assailants now (and later) are Romulans.
5. Admiral (retired) Picard, at his home in France, is interviewed by a news agency regarding his work after commanding the Enterprise, specifically referring to his efforts to help the refugees from which planet, whose sun went supernova (as seen in 2009's "Star Trek" movie)?

Answer: Romulus

The inclusion of the events of the Romulan sun going supernova in the year 2389 tied in the movie franchise reboot to the primary timeline of the many "Star Trek" television series. Where the supernova (and the 'red matter') sent Ambassador Spock and the Romulan ship Narada into the past, creating an alternate timeline.

In the unchanged original timeline, the results of the supernova meant a crisis to be managed and many Romulan lives to be saved. Picard oversaw the efforts to save and relocate the suddenly displaced Romulan population.
6. After seeing Picard in the interview, Dahj comes to him for help, but Picard doesn't know her or why she would know him. He offers for her to stay, but she disappears by morning. Overnight, Picard has another dream of Data... doing what?

Answer: Painting a picture

Picard sees Data painting a picture of a hooded woman with the face not yet filled in. In the dream, Data asks him if he would like to finish the painting, but Picard can't. When he awakens, Picard looks on his wall to see a nearly identical painting to the one from his dream, except with the woman looking away so that her face isn't visible.

This sparks a memory in Picard about the painting being one of a pair painted by Data TEN YEARS before his death. Picard resolves to go see the other painting, which is held in the Starfleet Archive Museum in San Francisco. It has the title of 'Daughter' and shows the face of Dahj.
7. In Paris, Dahj is worried about pursuers, and contacts her mother for help. Her 'mother' turns out to just be an artificial intelligence program, but she is once again pointed towards Picard. Dahj uses her newfound skills to search the secure system for Picard's current whereabouts, and she learns that he has traveled to visit the Starfleet Archive Museum. In what city?

Answer: San Francisco

Dahj's awakened skills as an android truly unnerve her, as she still has no inkling of what she actually is. She travels to San Francisco and meets Picard as he is emerging from the Archive and tells him that she can hear conversations from a block away and wonders if it is a result of her head trauma (from the previous attack) or if she might be schizophrenic.

Picard reveals to her that she is actually an android, somehow created from Data nearly 30 years after he made a painting of her. She is not sure if she believes it, and if it is true, she thinks that she must be a 'soulless killing machine' like the synthetics that attacked Mars.
8. Reunited with Picard, Dahj learns that she is an android, but before she can do anything with this new information, they are attacked by another group of assassins. Once again, Dahj manages to kill all of the assailants.

Answer: False

Dahj makes a good start at fighting the Romulans, but one of them bites on a poison capsule, spitting acid all over her (and also damaging his weapon). The acid starts to eat her skin and clothing, causing her to scream in pain just as the damaged weapon's power cell overloads and explodes, killing her.

Picard can do nothing more than watch and cry out in horror as the explosion kills Dahj and knocks him off his feet and into unconsciousness.
9. With a renewed purpose, Picard travels to the Daystrom Institute in Okinawa to try to find out about Dahj's origins. There, he meets with a cyberneticist named Dr. Agnes Jurati, played by which actress?

Answer: Alison Pill

At first, Dr. Jurati scoffs at the idea of the existence of a flesh-and-blood sentient android... until Picard shows her Dahj's necklace (two conjoined rings) and she recognizes it as the symbol for her mentor Bruce Maddox's "fractal neuronic cloning". She also reveals to Picard that Maddox's process would have created 'twin' androids, and that there must be another one out there, somewhere.

Alison Pill is a Canadian actress who has been acting since the late 1990s in movies, television and on the stage. Her last feature film role prior to "Star Trek: Picard" was 2018's satirical comedy "Vice", which also starred Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Amy Adams and Sam Rockwell.
10. At the end of the episode learn that Dahj has a twin sister named Soji who is working off planet at the 'Romulan Reclamation Site'. What are the Romulans 'reclaiming'?

Answer: A Borg cube

This teaser for episode two doesn't reveal much more than this, other than another new character in a Romulan by the name of Narek (played by Harry Treadaway) who makes her acquaintance.

But we do know is that Picard now has a new purpose and direction for his life - to find Data's other 'daughter', before the same danger befalls her.
