Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which part of Granddad's body is bothering him in this episode?

Answer: Legs

At the start of the episode, we see Rodney closing Granddad's bedroom and telling him to have a kip.

Rodney: "His legs are still playing him up."
Del: "Well, I told him not to run in the London marathon."
2. Del mentions that a policeman sparked three nights of rioting a month prior to this episode taking place. What was the policeman returning that sparked the riots?

Answer: Lost dog

Rodney is compiling a list of questions for the meeting of the Tenants' Association. He tells Del that he wants to find out why the police do not come onto the estate despite a recent crime wave.

Del: "Well, they can't get on the estate. The natives won't let them."
Rodney: "Come on, that is rubbish."
Del: "No, it ain't. Look, last month a copper came by just to return a lost dog and we had three nights of rioting."
3. How many crimes has Rodney listed in his "catalogue of crime"?

Answer: 1

He has only listed that Granddad's shopping trolley was stolen from the pram shed.

Del: "Gordon Bennett, there are 2000 stories in the naked city, and this plonker is looking for a basket on wheels."
Rodney: "I've heard of other crimes, but I don't know the times and dates and what have you. I've got to provide details, not rumours."
4. Who does Del state was indecently assaulted by the adventure playground?

Answer: Rita Aldridge

Del tells Rodney that Rita was indecently assaulted on Friday night, and had just reported the crime that morning.

Rodney: "Hold on a minute, if this happened on Friday night, how come it's taken her 'til Wednesday to report it?"
Del: "Because she didn't know she'd been indecently assaulted until this morning when the bloke's cheque bounced."
5. What is the name of the departing Chairman of the Tenants' Association?

Answer: Basil

He is sitting on the stage in the community centre, smoking a cigarette and looking at some paperwork, with Rodney the only other person in attendance. Rodney coughs and points out the "No Smoking" sign on the table, prompting Basil to turn the sign over so that it is no longer visible.

After, Trigger arrives and has a discussion with Rodney about why Trigger always calls him Dave.

Trigger: "Basil, are you going to get this meeting started? Me and Dave ain't got all week."
Basil: "Can't start the meeting without our Vice Chairman in attendance. It's in our constitution."
Rodney: "Well how long's he gonna be?"
Basil: "Oh, a hell of a long time, son. He died a fortnight ago."

Trigger nominates Rodney to become the new Vice Chairman, allowing the meeting to get started, with the first item on the agenda being Basil's resignation, meaning Rodney is now Chairman.
6. What is Del selling at the market?

Answer: Oranges

He is selling Spanish oranges, fresh from Seville. A young boy walks past and steals one, prompting Del to throw a stone after him. Unfortunately, the stone missed and instead broke some crockery from a neighbouring stall.
7. What is the name of the lady at the town hall who is responsible for housing and welfare?

Answer: Miss McKenzie

Del is annoyed with Rodney as he has not been helping on the market stall. Rodney defends himself by saying that, as Chairman of the Tenants' Association, he felt that he had to go to the town hall to introduce himself to Miss McKenzie.
8. Del and Rodney return to the flat to discover Granddad has had a heart attack.

Answer: False

Rodney is just about to complain about Granddad not putting the shopping away when he sees Granddad lying on the floor.

Rodney: "What's the matter with him?"
Del: "How should I know?"
Rodney: "Del, the brandy."
Del (holding the bottle up): "No, he ain't been at this."

When Rodney offers to give Granddad the kiss of life, he quickly sits up, claiming he's not that bad.

Granddad: "I just got up to switch over to Crossroads."
Del: "And what happened?"
Granddad: "I don't know, I didn't see the end."

It transpires that Granddad is exhausted due to the trouble with his legs and having to walk up the stairs due to the lifts being out of order.
9. Del confuses Nijinsky for a race horse.

Answer: True

When Doctor Becker has been to see Granddad, Del asks about his legs.

Dr Becker: "Don't worry, he's got legs like Nijinsky."
Del: "Nijinsky's a race horse!"
Rodney: "No, Del, he means Nijinsky the Russian ballet dancer."
Dr Becker: "I don't!"

Later, when Del discovers Miss McKenzie wanted to be a choreographer (Del: "Really, what a coincidence, because I always wanted to go into the medical profession myself"), he asks if she likes ballet.

Del: "What about that Nijinsky...I'm a great fan. Actually, I was thinking about getting a couple of tickets for one of the shows."
Miss McKenzie: "Derek, Nijinsky died in 1950."
Del: "Did she?"
10. The Trotters are granted a new house at the end of the episode.

Answer: False

On the back of Doctor Becker's assessment, and Rodney's position as chairman of the Tenants' Association, Miss McKenzie signs an application for a bungalow. She believes that Rodney has taken on the role because he cares, and not just to suit his own needs.

When she leaves, Granddad emerges from his bedroom, and dances with Del to celebrate the new house, at which point Rodney realises he's been tricked. He soon joins in the festivities, however.

Miss McKenzie then returns to ask Del if he would like to go for a drink, and Granddad opens the door smoking a cigar and holding a can of lager. Miss McKenzie is angry that she has been lied to. She asks Rodney to resign as Chairman of the Tenants' Association and states that she will be withdrawing the application for the bungalow.
