Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What genre of film is Uncle Albert watching at the start of the episode?

Answer: Horror

As the episode opens, Del is on the phone while Albert is playing around with the indoor TV aerial. Rodney is sitting at the table reading a newspaper.

Albert: "You had to interfere, didn't you?"
Rodney: "I was merely trying to get a picture for you."
Albert: "I had a picture until you come in and started mucking around with the aerial."
Rodney: "There was a ghost on the screen."
Albert: "Course there was a ghost on the screen - I was watching a horror film."
2. This is the first episode to feature Boycie's wife, Marlene.

Answer: True

Although she had been referred to in previous episodes, Marlene had not been seen prior to this point. Marlene was played by Sue Holderness.
3. Where is Boycie going on holiday?

Answer: Seychelles

Boycie is paying Del £60 per day to look after his dog while they are away, as Marlene does not trust the kennels. When Del and Rodney go to collect the dog, Boycie mentions that he is going to the Seychelles.
4. What type of dog is Duke?

Answer: Great Dane

Despite still being a puppy, Duke is a rather large dog. Marlene treats him like her baby as she and Boycie have been struggling to conceive an actual baby.
5. When Del looks in the the bag of meat left for Duke, what does he NOT mention is in the bag?

Answer: Lamb chops

When Del looks in the bag of food Marlene has left for Duke, it is full of meat.

Del: "Here, look at this. Steaks, chicken breast, veal scallops. We're going to eat alright for the next week or so, eh?"
Rodney: "That's supposed to be for the dog."
Del: "You must be joking! That thing's going to get a bowl of "Kennomeat" every day and think itself lucky. "
Rodney: "And what if Marlene finds out?"
Del: "And how is she going to find out! I suppose Duke is going to grass us up, is he?"
6. What is the name of the vet?

Answer: Mr Collins

Del and Rodney take Duke to the park for some exercise. As Del is busy trying to chat up a female dog walker, Rodney discovers that Duke is lifeless in the back of the van and initially believes him to be dead. They take Duke to the vet, who we are told by the receptionist is called Mr Collins.
7. Finish the quote: Vet: "Where should I send the bill?" Del: "How long will it take, doc?" Vet: "Oh, it shouldn't take long. Not if i send it _____ _____."

Answer: First class

The vet is explaining that he is still not entirely sure what is wrong, but is waiting for blood sample results. When he enquires about where to send the bill, the exchange in the question takes place, with Del referring of course to the results.
8. How much money do Del and Rodney bet against each other over the course of the episode?

Answer: £6

The vet suspects Duke may have salmonella poisoning from undercooked pork. When Del phones Albert to tell him to save the pork for testing, Albert says he has eaten some too, so Del tells him to go to the hospital. Del says Albert will need an operation and Rodney bets Del £5 that he won't. Del then tells Albert he'll laugh when Del tells him why, to which Rodney bets £1 he won't. Rodney wins both bets.
9. Rodney pretends to be Duke on the phone.

Answer: False

Boycie phones the flat to check on Duke. Rodney answers and Del pretends he's not in. When Marlene comes onto the phone, she asks to speak to Duke. Rodney panics and hands the phone to Del, who makes some panting noises.
10. Duke has salmonella poisoning.

Answer: False

Del and Rodney visit Albert in hospital. This scene features another obvious joke when the doctor hands Del a bottle of pills and says "the nurse gave me these." Del replies with, "why, what's wrong with you?"

It turns out that Duke has been taking Albert's sleeping pills, while Albert has been taking Duke's vitamins. Both sets of pills are in identical bottles.
