"South Park" - "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" Quiz

Here's a quick quiz on "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson", in which Randy uses a racial slur. This episode originally aired on March-7-2007. Enjoy! NOTE: To keep this family-friendly, I'll be using "n-guy" throughout rather than the show's actual term.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Randy Marsh's category on "Wheel of Fortune" was "People Who Annoy You". What was the answer?

Answer: Naggers

Randy had all but the second letter and told Pat Sajak, "I- I know it but I don't think I should say it." Pat kept counting down the time Randy had to answer, though, so Randy put on a happy face and enthusiastically blurted out that other "N" word, shocking the audiences both in the studio and at home.

When Vanna White walked over to flip over the "A" block, Randy sheepishly realized his mistake, and Pat Sajak awkwardly cut to commercial.
2. Trying to make amends, Randy went to see Jesse Jackson and apologized "deeply and sincerely for using the N word on 'Wheel of Fortune'." Eventually, Jackson determined to accept Randy's apology, which turned out to be in the form of what?

Answer: kissing Jesse Jackson's butt

When Jackson determined to accept the apology, he told his assistant to take a picture of "Mr. Marsh apologizing" and came around the desk. Standing in front of Randy, Jesse Jackson dropped his pants and briefs and stuck his rear end out towards Randy, instructing him, "Apologize. Kiss it." After watching Jackson gyrate for a few moments, Randy dropped to one knee and kissed Jackson's bum while the photographer snapped the photo!
3. At the assembly, the woman introducing Dr. David Nelson asked the kids if they knew what a little person was. Butters was the only student who raised his hand. What was his response?

Answer: "A midget."

The woman informed Butters, "Not exactly. That term is actually considered offensive, and that's why Dr. Nelson goes from school to school getting us all to think about what we say." Then she brought Dr. Nelson to the stage, where he stood silently waiting for Cartman to "run out of steam."
4. Where was Randy when he got dubbed "n-guy?"

Answer: a comedy club

Randy went to The Laugh Factory to see a black comedian in an attempt to further his appreciation of black culture. Unfortunately, the comedian recognized him and made ribbing on him part of his act, leading the entire audience in referring to Randy as "n-guy." Leaving the club, though, didn't save Randy from the title; everyone he passed on the street seemed to recognize him and called him "n-guy." The convenience store employees even refused to sell him aspirin, informing him that he wasn't "welcome" in their store!
5. When Dr. Nelson got angry and flushed, what did Cartman compare him to?

Answer: a little strawberry

Dr. Nelson had gone to Principal Victoria to request that he be allowed to speak further with Eric Cartman. Principal Victoria conceded and called Cartman into her office. Despite his claims that words were "like bullets" that "pass right through" him, Dr. Nelson was eventually affected by Cartman's mockery:
Dr. Nelson: "You know, you think you have the power to make me insecure, but your words are actually completely powerless."
Cartman: "Oh, oh, oh, oh! If we could get, like, eight of these, we could dress them all up like little beavers, right, and then put 'em in a pond, and see if they build a dam!"
Dr. Nelson: "You see? No matter what you say, I'm still standing."
Cartman: "Barely!"
Dr. Nelson: "No matter how you act, I can rise above it!"
Cartman: "'Rise above it!' Get it?"
Dr. Nelson: "Shut your [freakin'] mouth!"
Principal Victoria: "Mr. Nelson!"
Dr. Nelson: "He, he, he didn't get to me. I, I was just... I was just joking."
Cartman: "Look, look how his face gets all red! He's like a little strawberry!"
6. Dr. Nelson organized the kids in the gym to teach Cartman "a lesson once and for all." What did Dr. Nelson instruct the kids to say when Cartman entered?

Answer: "Hello, fatso."

The kids begrudgingly complied, and Cartman immediately accused Kyle of putting "everybody up to this?" When Dr. Nelson walked out to reveal how they'd turned the tables on Cartman and let him feel what he does to others, Cartman just started laughing at the little man and asked, "Who is the freaking genius who dressed him up in little suspenders?"
7. Who first came to Randy's assistance when he was being threatened at gunpoint by the rednecks?

Answer: Michael Richards

Richards came out of nowhere and told the rednecks to leave Randy alone. However, when they realized he was "that other 'n-guy,'" the rednecks were only more excited. Before the rednecks could get down to business, though, Mark Fuhrman (who used the N word in the O.J. case) and a few other "n-guys" showed up, and the rednecks retreated to their truck and drove off.
8. The group of "n-guys" told Randy that they had a plan. Who did this plan involve speaking to?

Answer: the United States Senate

Randy and the other men got a hearing with the Senate where they lobbied to have the term "n-guy" outlawed:
Randy: "Senators, I know it is not normally considered 'American' to ban words. But there is one slur that has caused so much damage that we believe it should finally be made illegal. I'm talking, of course, about the term 'n-guy.'"
Senator 1: "N-guy?"
Randy: "Two words which by themselves can be harmless but which together... form a verbal missile of hate."
Richards: "Yeah, that's right!"
Randy: "Oh, sure. Some people just use the term in jest - tell a 'n-guy' joke or two thinking it's no big deal - but they don't realize it can lead to people using the term as an excuse for violence."
Redneck: "[Darn] n-guy's tryin' to be all political-like now!"
Randy: "Senators, I've learned to admit that I'm capable of having slightly racist thoughts once in a while. Can anybody say they never do? How long will it be before you are all called 'n-guys?'"
Senator 2: "Uhh, hold on a second, are you suggesting that 'n-guy' could become a slur that refers to all white people?"
Senator 3: "I'm certainly not a 'n-guy.' I've never thought a racist thought."
Black Senator: "Aw, come on, you're the biggest 'n-guy' in Washington."
Senator 1: "Mr. Marsh, we see now the importance of your bill. All those in favor to ban the term 'n-guy?'"
Most Senators: "Aye!"
Senator 1: "Opposed?"
Black Senator: "Nay?"
Senator 1: "The motion is passed!"
9. When he had Dr. Nelson pinned to the ground, what did Cartman make him say?

Answer: "Carol Anne, don't go into the light!"

After making Dr. Nelson say "Uncle," Cartman also forced him to quote the little person medium from "Poltergeist", urging Carol Anne to avoid the light and return to safety. Thinking he'd won, Cartman let Dr. Nelson go, who promptly knocked him in the back of the head, dropping Cartman to the ground. Dr. Nelson then walked away, saying "I have proven my point! My work here is done!"
10. Did Token and Stan finally come to terms?

Answer: yes

After watching Cartman and Dr. Nelson fight, Stan had a revelation:
Stan: "Token, I get it now. I don't get it. I've been trying to say that I understand how you feel, but, I'll never understand. I'll never really get how it feels for a black person to have somebody use the N word. I don't get it."
Token: "Now you get it, Stan."
Stan: "Yeah. I totally don't get it."
Token: "Thanks, dude."
