Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The premiere full-length episode of the show resulted in the addition of Santa's Little Helper to the family. Where did Homer and Bart find the dog?

Answer: Springfield Downs

After losing his Christmas bonus and after Marge pays all of her Christmas funds to remove Bart's surprise tattoo, Homer earns a bit of money as a mall Santa, and after seemingly-useful advice from Barney, Homer heads to Springfield Downs to bet on the dograces and make his paycheck grow.

He loses after his dog falls to the back of the pack, but the owner decides to disown him. Homer and Bart take him back home and the family gets their Christmas present.
2. What word, created by Bart during a Scrabble game in the episode "Bart the Genius" is used to describe 'a big, dumb, balding North American ape with no chin'?

Answer: Kwyjibo

In this particular episode, Bart switches aptitude tests with Martin Prince and is dubbed a gifted child because of it. He ends up switching to a gifted school where he finds that he doesn't fit in with the other intellectuals (he even mixes chemicals improperly, causing a huge mess at school). Bart finally shows courage and reveals that he changed the names, forcing the schools to switch him back to Springfield Elementary with his friends.
3. In "There's No Disgrace Like Home", Homer decides that his family has no respect for one another and he takes them to the clinic of which doctor?

Answer: Dr. Marvin Monroe

When the family attends the Nuclear Plant's company picnic, Homer realizes that his family is inferior to the other, more loving families attending the event. He decides to sell the family TV in order to get money for counseling with Dr. Marvin Monroe, a psychiatrist with an ad on television.

After an intense session, Dr. Monroe finds the family to be incurable and gives double their money back. The family, now happy with their new wealth, buys a better TV.
4. Which bully is not a member of the group that was with Bart in "The Telltale Head"?

Answer: Nelson

In this episode, Bart decides to look cool by cutting the head off of the Jebediah Springfield statue in the center of town. After being pursued by an angry mob, he decides to tell his story about peer pressure and regret. After sneaking into a movie with the local school bullies, Bart tries to become their friend and performs the deed.

When he discovers how much pain he's inflicted on the town, he decides to return the head to the statue with the help of Homer.
5. In the episode "Moaning Lisa", Lisa meets who she decides is her musical idol. What is her 'jazzman's' name?

Answer: Bleeding Gums Murphy

Lisa falls into a depression after her elementary school music teacher, Mr. Largo, restricted her creativity in class. One night, while staring out her window, she hears the call of a saxophone across town and she follows it to an overpass where the jazzman, Bleeding Gums Murphy, plays a tune with her. Marge brings her back home and then drives her to school the next day only to realize that her daughter has a reason to feel bad.

It's only when her mother comforts her that Lisa finds no reason to be depressed any longer.
6. Bart travels to France in the episode "Crepes of Wrath". The exchange student taking his place in Springfield is from which country?

Answer: Albania

After a prank at Springfield Elementary, Skinner suggests to the Simpsons that Bart be sent to France for a couple of months on a foreign exchange program. Bart likes the idea as much as Homer and Skinner, who celebrate their freedom. When Bart arrives, he finds that his destination isn't all it's cracked up to be and he soon becomes the sole labourer at a winery. Back in Springfield, the Simpsons take Albanian exchange student, Adil, into their household.

It isn't until he is discovered to be sending nuclear power plant blueprints to his government (from Bart's treehouse) that he leaves the country. Bart manages to warn the police that his caretakers are putting antifreeze into the wine and he becomes a hero.
7. What is the name of the bowling instructor that wooed Marge in "Life in the Fast Lane"?

Answer: Jacques

In this episode, Marge's thirty-fourth birthday is celebrated and Homer gets her a horrible gift (a bowling ball with Homer's name on it). Despite Homer's disregard for Marge's interests, she goes out and uses the ball. Her horrible style of bowling attracts the attention of the French bowling instructor, Jacques, who constantly tries to make a move on Marge by teaching her and taking her to lunch. Marge realizes that Jacques may be jeopardizing her marriage.

In the end, she decides to make up with Homer and she visits him at work.
8. In "Some Enchanted Evening", the Simpsons kids nearly hand criminal, Lucille Botzkowski, over to the police. What did this character pretend to be?

Answer: Babysitter

In this episode, Marge discusses her marital troubles with a radio psychiatrist and Homer decides to make things up to Marge. To have a night out with Marge at a fancy restaurant and a motel, Homer calls the babysitting service. Unfortunately, while the Simpson parents are out having a good time, the kids are at home with a convict.

She ties Bart and Lisa up in front of the TV, but Maggie unties them and they are able to outsmart her while she steals from the Simpsons' closets. When Marge and Homer return home early, Homer unwittingly unties the criminal and lets her go- just before the kids return with the police.
9. Who framed Krusty the Clown in "Krusty Gets Busted"?

Answer: Sideshow Bob

While Homer stops at the Kwik-E-Mart to pick up some ice cream for dinner with Patty and Selma, a man who bears a striking resemblance to Krusty the Clown holds up the convenience store. Bart, who later sees this on the news, decides that Krusty could never have done such a crime. With Lisa, Bart is able to determine reasons why Krusty could not have committed the crime, but it isn't until he discovers Sideshow Bob's secrets (on his new show in Krusty's timeslot) that Krusty is released from prison.
10. What type of vehicle does the family buy in "The Call of the Simpsons"?

Answer: RV

In this episode, the family buys RV (Homer mainly does this to oppose Ned Flanders) and they end up driving the new purchase over a cliff. Trapped in the wilderness, the family fights nature to get back home. Lisa and Marge stay behind while Bart and Homer go off to find help.

They end up losing their clothes after flowing down a waterfall and Homer ends up falling in mud. When he stumbles upon a campsite, the media gets word that a camper has spotted Bigfoot. Marge ends up having to tell everybody that Bigfoot is her husband.
