Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Bart and Lisa, Casper the Friendly Ghost looks like what other comic book character?

Answer: Richie Rich

Marge drives Bart and Lisa out to a comic book convention and, to Bart's surprise, Lisa is interested in getting there early before all of the good comics are gone, particularly since she really only reads "Casper the Friendly Ghost". When they compare comic covers they notice a striking resemblance between Casper and Richie Rich; when they wonder how Richie died, Lisa hypothesizes that he took his own life upon realizing the hollowness of the pursuit of money. Marge asks the kids to lighten up.
2. In an attempt to pay less for admission to the comic book convention, Bart dresses up as which of these?

Answer: Bartman

When Marge drops the kids off at the convention center (and promptly speeds off), Bart and Lisa get into line and discover that it's a cheaper entry fee for anyone in a superhero costume. Bart quickly changes into Bartman (in a telephone booth, no less) but the admission vendor says that he's never heard of him. The Bartman costume features a mask and cape, of course.
Meanwhile, inside, Mayor Quimby welcomes all of the kids nerding out over comic books. He thanks them specifically for using their admissions to fund the local economy before making a bit of a fool of himself.
3. The man who played the original Radioactive Man, Dirk Richter, passed away.

Answer: True

After stopping off to see Otto's idea for a new comic book ('Busman', about a bus driver who fights vampires at night), Bart is pulled away by Milhouse and Martin, both of whom want to see Buddy Hodges, the guy who played the original Fallout Boy in the "Radioactive Man" serials and films. During a question-and-answer session with Hodges, Bart asks a question about Dirk Richter's death (he was shot to death in a bordello), leading the former sidekick to break down.
4. For how much does Comic Book Guy intend to sell his copy of "Radioactive Man #1" to Bart?

Answer: $100

Coming across Comic Book Guy's stall, Bart finds several older issues of "Radioactive Man" comics, all of which are collectibles. That's when he's shown a mylared copy of issue #1, Radioactive Man's origin issue. Although it costs an exorbitant amount, according to the seller, he'll give it to Bart for $100 since he reminds him of himself. Bart, however, only has $30.

When they leave, Lisa walks away with thirty-five "Casper" comic and a dozen "Lois Lane" issues for a dollar. Homer decides to take the family to Krusty Burger for dinner and Bart takes the opportunity to ask for $100 for the comic book, but the efforts don't get very far.
5. Which of these does Bart not do to earn money?

Answer: Sell his toys

Marge, concerned for Bart, decides to talk to him about earning money. She tells him about the time when she was younger and wanted to buy an easy-bake oven, so she worked as a slave to her sisters, earning half of their allowances. Bart scoffs at the idea of a part-time job, initially thinking that his mother is referring to herself earning a living.

Instead he ends up searching the couch, recycling some full bottles (after dumping the contents down the drain, of course), trading in some foreign currency, and setting up a lemonade stand.

When the lemonade stand flops, he starts to sell cups of Homer's beer for a nickel each, even going so far as to bribe the cops when they ask for a liquor license. Homer is not thrilled that his beers are gone.
6. At one point, Bart tries doing chores for which Springfield resident to earn cash?

Answer: Mrs. Glick

Marge, speaking with the ladies at the salon, ends up getting Bart a job doing odd jobs for Mrs. Glick, an elderly woman who seems welcoming from the get-go, but turns out to be a bit of a coot. After being forced to try some candy, Bart is put to work clearing out the backyard of all of its weeds, a job which proves painful after all the cuts he takes.

Heading home bruised, battered, and covered in iodine, Bart doesn't receive any money yet-- not until he cleans out the eave-troughs, cleans her old wedding dress, and cleans the cat litter.

When payday rolls around, he gets fifty cents. No more.
7. Who does not pitch money for the "Radioactive Man #1"?

Answer: Nelson

Bart heads home having earned only five bucks since starting to work for money. When Homer finds the boy disappointed with his efforts, he congratulates him on discovering that making money is for chumps; Homer never learned that lesson until at least double Bart's age. Spending his time looking in the window at the Andorid's Dungeon comic book shop, Bart watches as the comic is taken inside to the till to be bought by none other than Martin Prince.

Unfortunately, Martin only has $40. At the same time, Milhouse has $30 he wants to spend. Bart realizes that together, they can split on the comic book right then and there.
8. The comic book, once purchased, is permanently kept in Bart's room.

Answer: False

As soon as the boys leave the comic book store with their new purchase they open the mylar and sniff the collectible within. When clouds start rolling in they decide to put it away and take it home, but they hit a snag when they don't know which home it should go to. It isn't long before a solution is found; all three boys want to read the book so they do so together, by candlelight (and turning the page with tweezers), in Bart's treehouse.

They end up working out a schedule for who has the book at their house and when, but for the first night, Bart insists that it stay in the treehouse; they all opt to watch over it in paranoia.
9. During one rash action, Bart ends up doing which of the following to prevent anyone from stealing the comic?

Answer: Tying someone to a chair

The sleepover becomes tense as the boys sit quietly, watching each others' movements. When Milhouse wants to read the comic again, the others have to restrain him. Martin claims that his fingers contain acids which could damage the newsprint, and they need to keep the comic intact so that the last one of them to live can be buried with it.

This is when Bart gets leery. The talk erupts into violence when the boys start fighting... at least until Marge arrives with a tray of milk and microwaved s'mores.

A storm begins to rage both outside the treehouse and inside. When Martin gets up to use the bathroom, he's held at the end of a slingshot and tied to a chair... and that's when an argument regarding who needs to keep watch emerges.
10. In the end, what happens to the comic book?

Answer: It's destroyed

Bart and Milhouse end up fighting (while Martin is tied to the chair) and, in their struggle, Milhouse nearly falls out of the treehouse; Bart has him by the sleeve. At the same time, the comic book, no longer held down by the brick, is lifted by the wind. Bart makes the ultimate choice, saving Milhouse from the fall but losing the comic book to the storm.

The boys watch as it flutters into the yard and into the mud, ultimately getting chewed up by the dog and then struck by lightning, shredding into tiny pieces. The next morning, the boys go outside and mourn their loss.

They ended up with nothing because they couldn't share. At the same time, nothing is really learned... but you know.
