Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Look west if you wish to be baled out here, but there's an Easter egg in Warden Sharp's secret room at the Arkham Asylum. Around which DC Comics' character is Arkham Asylum based?

Answer: Batman

Warden Quincy Sharp has a secret, no, make that a super secret office in which he has hidden details of land that has been purchased and blueprints of plans to extend the asylum. The whole point of this Easter egg was to plant the seeds of a sequel to the game - Arkham City. There was one tiny flaw with this great idea ... they had made it so hard to find the egg that it wasn't discovered until after the sequel had hit the shelves.
The allusions to "west" and "baled" in the question reference Adam West and Christian Bale who have both played the role of Batman on the big screen.
2. Insomniac Games have installed an "Insomniac Museum" in three of their "Ratchet and Clank" games - "Going Commando", "Up Your Arsenal" and "A Crack in Time" . What are you likely to find in this museum?

Answer: The ideas that didn't quite make the cut

The museum is on a planet called Burbank. To get there you will need to (a) reach Silver City in Bolden and (b) be there at 3am. "Why 3am?" you say. Because you are unable to sleep, you're insomniac remember. Then you will need to go through a process that involves the pressing of triangles, teleporting, fighting enemies, more teleporting and pressing of triangles.

There is another way, but this one is more amusing. The museum gives you a really good insight into just how much detail is involved in putting a game together.

There are also some interactive exhibits here as well.
3. Chris Houlihan won a lottery and, as a result, had a secret room created in his honour. In which version of "The Legend of Zelda" did this historic event occur?

Answer: A Link to the Past

"A Link to the Past" was released by Nintendo in November 1991. Chris' room was so well hidden that for quite some time it proved difficult to find. To get to this egg you will first need to get your "Pegasus Boots" because speed is vital. After a series of well executed runs Link will fall down a hole and land in a room filled with blue rupees and a plaque.

The inscription on the plaque says "My name is Chris Houlihan. This is my secret room. Keep it between us O.K.?" What a way to be immortalised.
4. In "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" there is a sign at the top of the Gant Bridge that says "There are no Easter eggs up here. Go away." Should you trust the sign?

Answer: No

Absolutely, do not trust the sign. The Easter egg that isn't there actually is there. The Gant Bridge is one of the more prominent landmarks created in San Fierro in the San Adreas game. It is a suspension bridge that has been modelled on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and connects Juniper Hollow and The Palisades to Tierra Robada and Bayside. You will need to make your way to the top of the southern suspension tower of the Gant to find the inscription.

The most sensible way would be to use your jetpack.
5. In a game where time travel is a key component, which SNES role playing game has an Easter egg that will allow you to talk to the developers?

Answer: Chrono Trigger

To get to the programmer's room you first need to beat the game and then start all over again in "New Game +" mode. A short cut then becomes available that will take you all the way through to the final battle against Lavos. Bad news is that you have to defeat him before you can get into the room. Once inside you are able to chat to the monsters who will speak on behalf of the developers, who will be more than happy to boast about the size and quality of their graphics.
6. If you don't get bushed, on the first level of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" game, you will find a hidden "Dharma" hatch and earn a reward. "Dharma" is a link to which 2004 television series that starred Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly?

Answer: Lost

The first level is a jungle setting complete with temples and all sorts of greenery. (No apologies for the pun here - jungle and bushed. Also bushed is Australian lingo for lost). Work your way through this and you'll find a boarded up doorway a little bit off the main track. If you claw your way through the timber you'll find the "Lost/Dharma" hatch. Stand on this for a while you will earn an achievement with the rather predictable message "Found". "Lost" fans, called Losties or Lostaways, will be able to cite a number of games that include "Lost" references or Easter eggs including "Dead Island", "Divinity II" and "Half-Life 2: Episode 2".
7. There is an Easter egg in the Nintendo 64 game "Banjo-Tooie" that leads you to a character called Captain Blackeye. What sort of character is Captain Blackeye?

Answer: Pirate

Captain Blackeye can be found at Jolly Roger's Tavern in Jolly Roger's Lagoon and he appears to drink continuously. If you manage to find him and talk to him long enough he will sprout out three alternate phrases ... "Arrrr! I had a dream once", "I was in this fine game" and "A bear stole me glory".

While that may sound like a lot of drunken babble there is a story behind it all. The original edition of "Banjo-Kazooie", of which "Banjo-Tooie" is a version, was going to be called "Project Dream" (Arrr! I had a dream once) and Captain Blackeye was going to be its hero.

The project was too slow in its development and when the next version was created the hero was not the captain but two new creations - Banjo, the bear (A bear stole me glory) and Kazooie, the red crested breegull. Little wonder the good captain went and got himself hammered.
8. Named after MIT linguist Noam Chompsky is which statuette that appears in "Left 4 Dead 2" and can help you earn an achievement at the finish?

Answer: Gnome Chompsky

You are able to collect the gnome by scoring 750 points in the shooting gallery mini-game at the Fairground. If you manage to carry him with you all the way to the rescue vehicle at the concert you will be able to unlock the "Guardin' Gnome" achievement.

The downside here is that while you're carrying the gnome you are unable to shoot (though you can still melee) and he'll take up about 35% of your screen which effectively blocks out your right side sight. Gnome Chompsky made his first appearance in "Half-Life 2: Episode 2" where he helps you to the achievement "Little Rocket Man".
9. A secret control room in "Silent Hills 2" reveals which panting creature who is supposedly the evil mastermind behind everything that has happened in the game?

Answer: Dog

There are a number of alternate endings to this game as well as two Easter eggs to be found. The dog ending (egg) however, is a piece of genius. It is here that you discover the dog who kindly licks your face and then tells you that he's the one responsible for getting you to pull your hair out, go "grrr arrrgh" lots of times and generally twist yourself in knots trying to get to the end. To get to the egg you will need to open up the Observation room with a bone shaped key. (PS) Keep your eye on the credits where James and Maria end up revealing a little more of themselves.
10. To access the secret Easter egg in Playstation's "Resident Evil 2" you have to search Wesker's desk how many (ridiculous) times?

Answer: Fifty

I cannot take my hat off to the first person who discovered this egg. What on Earth were they thinking or, more to the point, not thinking? The first time you search the desk you get this message that says "It's trashed. Someone must have already searched the desk". I can see that putting some people off immediately but there are those that are persistent and will go back a second, third and maybe a fifth time. I can even understand ten times but fifty? The amusing part is the reward that you get for all this dedication. You get "Film D". To find out what's in "Film D" you will need to get it developed in the "Dark Room", which is situated below the stairs.

The end result is a not so flash picture of Rebecca Chambers (one of the game's characters) in her basketball uniform.
