Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first episode of series two "Long Legs of the Law", what is the name of the record which Rodney mentions he owns?

Answer: "Walking on the Moon"

In this episode, Rodney is temporarily dating Sandra, the police woman who broke up a fight on the boy's night out. When Rodney brings Sandra back to the flat, Rodney mentions he has a police record. Del saves the day by cutting in and saying "Walking on the Moon" by The Police, rather than letting Sandra find out about Rodney's suspended sentence for smoking pot.
2. In "Ashes to Ashes", Trigger's grandfather's ashes are in one of the urns Del is selling. What is in the other?

Answer: His Nan's second husband's ashes

This funny episode is where Trigger's Nan has died and Del offers to help sell some of her possessions. He tries to sell a matching pair of urns, in which Grandad finds Trig's grandad's ashes. They then find some in the other pot, which turn out to be Trigger's Nan's second husband's ashes.
3. In "A Losing Streak" Del wins the card game by having two pair. What pairs did he have?

Answer: A pair of aces, and another pair of aces

When Del is losing a lot of money at gambling, Boycie offers a winner-takes-all game. Del hosts this at the flat, and at first tries to cheat by using Grandad's double headed coin. Then, knowing that Boycie is cheating at the card game, Del cheats and ends up winning by having two pairs of aces. Boycie has four kings, which are lower than aces in poker.
4. In "No Greater Love" what is the name of Irene's (Rodney's older woman) husband?

Answer: Tommy McKay

Del and Grandad are disgusted with Rodney for dating Irene McKay, who is older than Del. Del, trying to protect his younger brother, speaks to Irene who breaks up with Rodney. Rodney goes mad and won't speak to Del. Then Irene's husband turns up following his release from prison and mistakes Del for Rodney, and gives him a beating.
5. In "Yellow Peril" Del takes on the job of painting Mr Chin's Chinese restaurant. What is the name of this restaurant?

Answer: The Golden Lotus

In "Yellow Peril" Del nominates Rodney and Grandad to paint "The Golden Lotus". When Del tells Mr Chin what colour paint he is using, he does say Locust which was believed to be a mistake but it is written into the script so that he says it wrong. However Del has purchased tins of un-labelled paint from Trigger, which turns out to be nicked from British Rail.

The paint was not the sort used to paint stations, but fluorescent paint used in tunnels. It makes the episode funnier when Del realises that he has painted his mum's gravestone in the same paint.
6. In "It Never Rains..." Del books a holiday to Benidorm, but what is the name of the travel agent?

Answer: Alex

Del means up with his old pal Alex, who mentions that he has a lot of cheap holidays for sale. As Del is a bit strapped for cash, he jumps on the idea and books to go to Benidorm.
7. Also in "It Never Rains..." what does Grandad do that lands him in a Spanish jail?

Answer: He was jaywalking

Grandad is nicked for jaywalking. However he thinks it is because he was gunrunning during the war.
8. In "A Touch of Glass" how much does Del charge for his chandelier cleaning service?

Answer: £350

This hilarious episode is actually based on a real life story. The boys help Lady Ridgemere when her car breaks down, and end up at Ridgemere Hall Estate. Whilst there, Del states that his family also do chandelier cleaning, and offers to clean the two at the hall for a mere £350.

However, whilst Del and Rodney stand underneath one chandelier reading to catch it, Grandad unscrews the other one, which comes crashing to the ground. Classic stuff!
9. In "Christmas Trees" Del is trying to sell what type of tree?

Answer: Telescopic Christmas trees

This is a highly sought-after episode, and has not been broadcast much. Del is having trouble getting rid of his telescopic Christmas trees. He has 149 of them to sell to make a profit, and even tries to get the local church to take one. This episode was shown as part of a programme called "The Funny Side of Christmas" in 1982.
10. In "Diamonds are for Heather", what is it that Rodney calls Del when he is in the flat getting ready to go out?

Answer: "Born-again Ovaltiney"

In this episode, Del is currently dating Heather. Rodney calls him a "born-again Ovaltiney" whilst he is getting spruced up in front of the mirror. This is also the episode which sees Del propose with a cluster of solitaire diamonds on an engagement ring, and in which he talks the singers at The Nag's Head and the carol singers to give a rendition of 'Old Shep'.
