Cartman was flipping though slides of ginger kid photos, proclaiming his disgust with each one, and explained to the class that "Ginger kids are born with a disease which causes very light skin, red hair, and freckles. [...] This disease is called Ginger-vitis and it occurs because ginger kids have no souls." Kyle objected to the speech and called it a "hate speech," but Mrs. Garrison told Kyle to keep quiet and let Cartman finish.

Cartman had already claimed that gingers had to avoid sunlight just like vampires, and then explained that some people had red hair, but not light skin and freckles. Referencing the vampire lore of the film "Blade", Cartman dubbed these people "daywalkers" and showed a slide of Kyle as a daywalker example.

Stan and Kyle had gone to the Foley house to find out the truth about ginger kids, but Mr. and Mrs. Foley seemed uncomfortable with their own kids and weren't very reassuring. As Mr. Foley ushered the boys out the door, he told them, "Look, boys, if you really don't wanna have ginger kids, marry an Asian woman. Asians don't carry the recessive gene. I know a guy who's marrying a Japanese woman very soon for just that reason."

Cartman warned the class, "Make no mistake; ginger kids are evil. You know who was ginger? Judas. And what did Judas do? Oh, he just got Jesus killed, that's all." Cartman's scare tactics seemed to be having the desired effect; that day at lunch some boys kicked a ginger kid out of the cafeteria!

Kyle knocked Cartman out (and got a little carried away at the opportunity to beat up Cartman) and then the boys made Cartman into a ginger! The next morning, upon discovering his new condition, Cartman and his mother went to the doctor where Cartman's mom received some questionable counseling: "Ms. Cartman, I know this must be very difficult for you. I, for one, can't stand red-haired freckled kids.

But you need to understand, there is no cure. Your son will be ginger his whole life. You might want to just... put him down."

Cartman showed up to the bus stop with a large purple umbrella, and was clearly a bit uncomfortable with revealing his new condition to his friends:
Cartman: "Hey dudes, what's going on? [cough, cough] How's everything with you guys?"
Kyle: "Wow, Cartman, you look... different."
Cartman: "Yes, well, it's interesting you should point that out, Kyle. I went to the doctor yesterday, and apparently I suffer from a small skin pigment deficiency."
Stan: "You mean, you're a ginger?"
Cartman: "Actually, Ginger-vitis is the medical term."
Kyle: "Is that an umbrella you're using?"
Cartman: "Yes, Kyle. The sun's rays are bad for my skin, so I need to be protected when I'm outside. Well, I'm glad we've gotten all that out of the way, and now we can just go on with our lives as normal."
Kyle: "Wow, that's a little ironic, isn't it?"
Cartman: "What do you mean, Kyle?"
Kyle: "Well, I mean, all last week you were ripping on ginger kids and now you are one."
Cartman: "Hm. I don't really see the irony in that, Kyle."
Just then, the bus arrived to put a stop to the conversation. Things didn't get much better for Cartman, though; as he sat down, Butters took one look at him and burst into laughter!

When he sat down to eat, the other boys just stared and told him he wasn't supposed to be there, now that he was a ginger. Cartman protested, "Guys! Okay look, maybe I'm ginger, but I'm not like other ginger kids. I'm still me inside." His words fell on deaf ears, though, and Cartman was forced to leave the room. Stan and Kyle felt victorious, hoping they'd finally taught Cartman a lesson, but they'd actually just driven him to more dark deeds!

Cartman, fed up after less than a day of discrimination, was holding a meeting of the gingers and trying to rally them into standing up for themselves. He tried to think of a great historical ginger, and the only name the kids seemed able to come up with was Ron Howard. That was enough for Cartman, though, and he gave the gingers a call to arms: "Ginger people go on to do amazing things in society. We need to let everyone in this school know that we are not inferior. That we are, in fact, beautiful, totally awesome, and super smart.

It's time for us to take back our pride!" With that, the gingers hit the playground, chanting "Red power!"

Reporter: "Tom, I'm standing outside the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, where the new production of 'Annie' has just premiered to cries of outrage! A rapidly growing organization, called the Ginger Separatist Movement, is furious that the lead role of Annie is being played by a girl who isn't actually red-haired and freckled. Joining me now is the gingers' head spokesperson, Eric Cartman."
Cartman: "That's right. This is [bull]! We true gingers are fearless that the role of Annie is being minimalized!"
Reporter: "What harm do you believe this actress is doing to the true red-haired community?"
Cartman: "[She] isn't ginger. She's just using makeup to look ginger. And pretending to be ginger with makeup is the worst thing anybody can do!"
Just then the actress emerged from the cast entrance and the gingers attacked her!

During the beginning of the conference, they were interrupted by Gary Nelson with "Hilton Guest Relations" who was checking that they had enough coffee and buffet items. After Cartman issued his decree and the gingers started collecting the non-ginger kids, we see that the Hilton's reader board was advertising the ginger meeting as: "Exterminate All Non-Gingers Conference."

They were walking to Cartman's house to return him to his old coloring when they were stopped by a really creepy group of ginger kids. The gingers grabbed Kenny while Stan and Kyle ran. Kids all over town were being snatched from their beds, their showers, the street, etc. Kyle and Stan tried to barricade themselves in a barn, but the gingers broke through and got them!

In fact, when he interrupted the conference for a second time to check on their coffee and buffet table needs, he also thought to ask if they had enough lava!

He was excited to get things underway and pronounced that they would start with "the daywalker!" A couple of the gingers dragged Kyle from the cage and onto the stage near the lava pit, when Kyle said he had something he needed to tell Cartman. Kyle then whispered the truth about Cartman's non-ginger status in his ear and left it up to Cartman to change the course of the events he'd set in motion.

The gingers were clearly confused by Cartman's sudden about-face and pressured him to reveal what the "kid in the green hat" had told him. Cartman tried to laugh it off, saying it was just "something funny that happened at school yesterday."

Cartman had gotten the crowd worked into a blood-thirsty frenzy, but had to calm them down once he learned he wasn't a ginger himself. He told the gingers, "I can't believe how great it feels to finally love my fellow man. Isn't this great, you guys? We've sure been through a lot, but in the end, we all learned it's best to get along." Then Cartman broke into an impromptu song and dance: "Hand in hand we can live together. Ginger or not we're all the same. Black or white, brown or red, we shouldn't kill each other 'cause it's lame." The gingers, though a bit confused, joined into the song and Cartman stepped back to Kyle, who told him, "You're such a manipulative asshole, Cartman." Cartman replied triumphantly, "Yes, but I'm not going to die."
