From Quiz Her Name In Lights
Answer:
The new wife of Rebecca's widower
"Rebecca" was based on the novel of the same name by English author Daphne du Maurier. Laurence Olivier starred as aristocrat Maxim de Winter, with Joan Fontaine as his second wife, who is not given a name in the novel nor the film. Maxim is still in love with his deceased first wife, Rebecca, and when he brings the second Mrs. de Winter to his home after getting married within weeks of meeting, she is disconcerted to see how much of Rebecca's presence remains. One of the housekeepers, Mrs. Danvers, refuses to accept the new Mrs. de Winter, and soon new evidence comes to light questioning Rebecca's apparent suicide.
"Rebecca" was nominated for an astonishing 11 Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Actress, and won two, which were Best Picture and Best Cinematography for a black-and-white film.
