The sketch is dated April 14, 1912, the same day the Titanic struck the iceberg that caused it to sink. The woman in the sketch survived the disaster and hears about its discovery. She contacts the search team and recounts the story of her voyage. "Titanic" was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won 11 including Best Picture. With an initial worldwide box office gross of over $1.8 billion, it was the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark.

"The Karate Kid" (1984) told the story of Daniel Larusso, a 17 year old kid who moved from New Jersey to California. He fell for the charms of Ali Mills, and thus angered Ali's ex-boyfriend Johnny Lawrence. Johnny and some of his fellows from the karate school Cobra Kai then harassed Daniel every time they met. At the Halloween prom, it escalated to a major fight, and the janitor Mr. Miyagi saved Daniel by knocking down Johnny and his four comrades. Mr. Miyagi then suggested to confront Johnny's teacher Kreese, but they did not agree on ending the feud. Mr. Miyagi then convened a truce with the Cobra Kai gang while he would train Daniel for the "All Valley Tournament" - a karate competition for juniors (up to 18 years). Daniel did at first not understand the training ("wax the car" or "paint the fence" to learn blocking moves). At the tournament, Daniel progressed to the semi-finals, as also did Johnny. Johnny won his semi-finals without any effort, but Daniel only won because his opponent (one of the Cobra Kai gang) was disqualified for deliberately injuring Daniel's leg. In the finals Johnny once again hit Daniel's injured leg, and Daniel could hardly stand straight. So Daniel took on the crane stance: hopping on one foot, arms spread out above the head - a very vulnerable stance. As Johnny attacked, Daniel jumped up and kicked Johnny in the face. Ralph Macchio played Daniel, and Noriyuki Pat Morita played Mr. Miyagi. Other roles were for Elisabeth Shue (Ali) and William Zabka (Johnny). A reverse punch is a punch with the rear fist. The front sweep is a kick to the leg on which your opponent balances, and plays a part in "The Karate Kid Part III". The drum technique is a fictitious attack tactic: alternating blocks from one side and from the other side, as demonstrated in "The Karate Kid Part II".

It stars Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine, a disillusioned bar owner; Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa, his former lover; Paul Henreid as Ilsa's husband Victor, and Claude Rains as police captain Louis Renault. At the end of the film, Rick gives up Ilsa so she can be with Victor. Rick shoots Strasser, the leader of the Nazi troops, so that Victor and Ilsa can escape. Renault covers up Rick's crime - "Major Strasser has been shot. Round up the usual suspects." The film closes with Rick and Renault planning to leave Casablanca for Brazzaville. "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." The films contains several of the best lines ever, as designated by the American Film Institute, including the last line and "Here's looking at you, kid." "Casblanca" won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Bogart and Raines were nominated for their performances, but lost. Bergman was not nominated as Ilsa, one of the biggest snubs in Oscar history.

The enemy forces find the Resistance and attack them, but Luke manages to use subterfuge to buy time for the Resistance which allows them to escape to fight another day.

She was picked up by a man who turned out to be the I-5 Killer. When he attacked the girl, she shot him in the face. The girl was arrested for attempted murder because the I-5 Killer was a respected child counselor. After the man recovered, he found out where the girl's grandmother lived. Meanwhile, the girl escaped from juvenile prison and finally got to her grandmother's house, where the man (Kiefer Sutherland) was hiding under the covers.

Kaffee: I want the truth! Jessup delivers the immortal line "You can't handle truth" and then gives an epic monologue on the responsibilities of being a military commander. Kaffee finally gets Jessup to confess that he gave an illegal order, which resulted in the death of a Private under his command. As for the rest, Jessup while fanatical, seemed personally honest and unlikely to steal money, especially from the Marine Corps. Lt. Col Markinson committed suicide, and it was never said in the film whether Jessup was married or not. Given his obsession with his military career, it seems unlikely. Nicholson was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Jessup but lost out to Gene Hackman for "Unforgiven" (1993).

Headey's strong female character was credited with attracting a large number of women to the film. Danish actress Connie Nielsen and Israeli Gal Gadot portrayed Queen Hippolyta and Diana Prince, respectively in "Wonder Woman" (2017). Eddie Murphy has actually had a couple of legitimate hits as a singer and has sung background with the group The Bus Boys, so his performance in "48 Hrs." (and the follow-up "Another 48 Hrs.") was intentionally off-putting and played for effect. To place this in context, Nolte's cop character (Jack Cates) goes to see Murphy's convict character (Reggie Hammond) to get his assistance in solving a big case. Cates is visiting Hammond in jail, with Hammond sitting back on the prison bunk with a set of headphones on while wailing out the song originally by the rock band The Police, "Roxanne". "48 Hrs." was successful enough to warrant "Another 48 Hrs." though it took eight years for that sequel to be made and released. That was most likely due to Murphy's own popularity at the time with his successful run of "Beverly Hills Cop" movies and the film "Coming to America".

In the film "Demolition Man", police officer John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) is put into suspended animation (deep freeze!) to serve out a sentence imposed on him for a charge of (basically) police brutality. He is brought back to life in a future that seems to be utopian, but where unfortunately a past nemesis is causing problems. In that future some of the entertainment that is enjoyed by the citizenry comes back to listening to old advertising jingles. This somewhat shocks Spartan as he gets used to his new environment, though that shock is nothing compared to learning about the winner of the franchise wars. "Judge Dredd" was another futuristic film starring Stallone. It did not include jingles as a form of entertainment. "Mad Max" and "Freejack" are also futuristic films, but again, they don't include jingles as a form of entertainment.

This film was greatly honored by a number of international film associations and critics. It was nominated for two Academy Awards for Screenplay and Film Editing but won neither. It earned a 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating. It is highly regarded for its styling and editing. Personal: It is not on my bucket list to watch again as I found it unimpressive. Film critic Sean Burns summed it better than I can: "For all its formal wizardry, Memento is ultimately an ice-cold feat of intellectual gamesmanship. Once the visceral thrill of the puzzle structure begins to wear off, there's nothing left to hang onto."

He becomes so disturbed by his own lying and stealing that he tries to committ suicide, only held back by his girlfriend. "A Walk in the Sun" was also made in 1945, starred Dana Andrews and was a WWII film. Another class of '45 movie is a low-budget but well scripted film noir called "Detour". "Mildred Pierce" was the Joan Crawford come-back vehicle in 1945. A tear jerker about a mother who literally sacrifices everything to her cold, hard hearted daughter, the movie got Crawford an Oscar in 1946.
